This is a chance for uk fans to congratulate him n be happy for him
Or..... Continue to be those idiots everyone talks about , and our fans wonder why it's happening

No. So long as no one wishes injury on him, its fine. Theres no reason Kentucky fans should support him at this point (if you choose to, thats perfectly fine). He took several million to come here with the notion that if anything got a little iffy with his knee, he was going to rest. It was a bad deal. He could have come back and played his way into a top5 pick, but he took the money and ran.

Not sure why we should support him at all. And I dont think Duke fans or Alabama fans would play it any better.

You have no idea anything u just typed is accurate. Exactly what I was talking about. Pure speculation acting like it's fact

Its not hard to put 2 and 2 together and suss the situation out. And either way, he took millions to essentially not play, he could have come back this year.

No fan of a team is going to support a player that does this. You dont neccesarily have to HATE them, but your delusional if you think fans would continue supporting players who effectively "quit" on the team. Go read what Kansas fans have been saying about Peterson all week leading up to the draft

@LineSkiCat14 While acknowledging this is an Internet board and everyone’s entitled to their opinion, I don’t understand animosity towards JQ. NBA people are concerned about his knee and everyone says it’s not completely healed. The kid wasn’t faking an injury. Looks like he pushed too hard to get back on the floor as quickly as he did.

UK rolled the dice with him when they already had MM and Garrison. The old saying, “It’s not my $.” He was a high priced 3rd string center. If he got healthy, he would’ve made a difference and pushed BG to mop up duty.

The Sharpe fiasco scarred everyone. But, I think we now think every legit injury is another player wanting to sit out until the draft.

I wish we could have seen a healthy JQ. I’d been happy with half a season. We didn't get it, but NBA medical evaluations at least reveal the current injury is legit.

I dont think hes faking it. But I dont think he was as committed to playing as otherd were. He also seemed to shut it down for the season pretty quickly.. We heard there was some swelling (no idea of thats true) and then he was done. There was no 2nd injury, no surgery, no real injury news the last few months.

And look, if he wanted to play it safe for his career, thats his choice. And maybe its a smart one, but dont expect the fans to support you. What do your coworkers and boss think if you "shut it down" for the final few months of a project to really recuperate and rest? The stakeholders are never going to support this

I think the Spurs could have traded pick 20 for a couple 2nd round picks and got JQ and another player.

CBS grades this pick A-

Jayden Quaintance C, UK

OVR RK: 13 • POS RK: 2 • HT: 6-9 • WT: 255
Quaintance is the best defensive player in the draft. We’re talking about a lottery talent, one of the best athletes in the draft, and a potential defensive savant. A healthy Quaintance gives the Spurs a real long-term option up front --- his defensive playmaking numbers were off the chart as a freshman at Arizona State. If the Spurs can figure out how to keep Wemby healthy, they can get Jayden Quaintance right. Quaintance suffered a major right knee injury -- including a torn ACL and meniscus --- in February 2025 during his freshman year at Arizona State. Despite surgery and a 9-month recovery, complications and persistent swelling limited him to just four appearances at Kentucky, After playing only four games this year at Kentucky, Quaintance helped himself at the combine by looking explosive in his pro day. He’s long, powerful, violently athletic at the rim, and a real game-changer on the defensive end of the floor. (Adam Finkelstein)

Fair enough.

Looks to me like he rushed back to play before he was ready. I appreciate him pushing to get back. Many people thought the timeline was overly optimistic.

I do think the Sharpe fiasco has caused us to not trust a player’s motive. Regarding Peterson, it’s obvious he didn’t want to play when Self thought he was healthy enough to play. I don’t think that was case with JQ.
Peace!
