If the football program can get rolling and really draw in viewership and revenue, that could be so big.

Watching the Cowherd show today and he actually gave UK football some praise. He basically said that this NIL era is different, and used UK an example of schools who arent traditionally good, but can now spend money. And he basically said "why not Indiana football, why not Michigan Basketball? Why not Kentucky football?".

So I think that speaks volumes for how we are trending. Kentucky football probably never gets out of its 25th to 40th ranking in football in the last era. Even if we found our great coach, hed be gone to somewhere else before long. But not now. If kentucky wants to spend, it can. And programs like kentucky football and Michigan basketball can succeed in this new NIL era.

You gotta admit its funny....Stein pulls the #10 ranked class and there are a hundred threads on here praising him like he is the second coming, while Pope ends up with the #2 ranked class and you would think he is the Devil himself for the way he is dogged out over recruiting lol
Well national championships are what fans expect to compete for in basketball. And then we know the history of UK football ....but let's act like its the same in both sports?

I do agree with let Stein at least coach a couple games before crowing him.

How many Nattys did Cal win in 15 years? Pope has been here two seasons.
And yes, I like Stein, but let's see if the magic carpet is still rolled out after we go 5-7 this season

Stein will get raked over the coals if he has some bad losses & has the team looking unprepared trust me. However, everything I've read & know about Stein, the one thing he will not be is unprepared. I'm excited for football & basketball this year, football comes first & I'll be right there in section 223 as I am every single year.

100% agree with Stein. Obviously hoping he does something special but expecting 5-6 wins. Maybe 6-7 year two 7-8 year three. I can't apologize for not having much faith in UK football.

But 7-8 wins at UK is pretty good and I would get tickets to see a 8 win UK football team. Never been to a UK football game. Might check it out this fall

I think he is going to do great things...but it will take time. The way Pope has been treated makes me wonder if that patience is even possible here

Ill put my IQ up against yours anytime fella. The fact that you go straight to insults because I disagree with you tells me all I need to know
Says the one who thinks UK basketball expectations and football should be similar.

Don't look now but the SEC is no longer your grandfathers conference in basketball. Now that everyone else is investing in round ball, no more free passes for UK. Expectations may have to be tempered.

I personally think there will be a limit, different at every school based how much they are willing or able to raise money. The super rich will always have more but may be unwilling to spend beyond a certain amount.

I think thats what its gonna have to come down to: what is Kentucky willing to pay to seperate itself. More so for basketball. I dont know if UK will ever want to, or has the realistic resources to fund a top10 football program every year. But for basketball, that's what it will have to take.

Regardless UK football and basketball will never have close to the same expectations. Never.
That football ranking is for the 27 class correct?
Stein will be sort of short handed this season, so it's going to prove his coaching prowess right off the bat. Hopefully he can steal a few games we shouldn't win, build.momentum and keep most of our commitments for next year.

It says transfer portal class right on the original post.

Has there been a ‘27 portal class?
Good point. I don't believe so. The only other 26 transfer portal I had looked at originally was the On3 site here which had us at # 40 rightly or wrongly. Not sure why there are huge discrepancies between ranking sites. Must weight things totally different, but you'd think it would all be relative to other schools. I didn't think Stein did that well for this coming season's transfer class. They may be better than i assumed this year.

I think on3 takes into account incoming and outgoing players for an overall net rating. That might explain the discrepancy.

I could be wrong about that and if I am I’m sure someone will call me stupid, unpatriotic, and possibly a serial killer.

If he goes 5-7 this year with the schedule he has he should be National Coach of the year.

That's an absolute. Thats saying UKFB will NEVER be in contention for a NC. We don't know the future.
UK football can win the championship next year like Indiana did. Expectations year in and year out will never be the same. Kentucky basketball is 1 of 1.

If basketball wins a championship we celebrate and go crazy but also we've been there and that's expected.

Win a championship in football and we will go crazy and be like how the hell did we do this??
