Cue up the Transfer portal....opens for 15 days for Michigan players....then perhaps cut it up again if his replacement is currently a head coach elsewhere....and then again if.....and so on, and so on....lol
Power ADs have a precise short list

Can't really blame him.

One could say coaches have less loyalty these days than ever, but that goes more than double for the players right now. Who needs the headache, if one can avoid it? College athletics is so unstable right now. NIL has turned everything on its head. Why not get out of dodge for several seasons. If he fails in Dallas, maybe by then some stability will return to the college game.

Championship or not, he still has to rebuild after every season - just like everybody else. Look at Hurley. Back to back championships and he's still gotta play the same game everyone else does with the rebuilding every season. That's why he actually took a moment to consider the lakers' offer.

Even for the coaches being successful in this new landscape, it's still a pain in the @$$ to have to pretty much start from scratch each season and play the portal/NIL game. Just because May won the title doesn't mean he embraces the current system. If anything, this move implies he was sick of it; even at a school that had all the resources he could want.
