Mike Vail of the 23 game hitting streak the previous year.
When you are a late season call up and only appear in 38 games, a 23 game hitting streak is pretty impressive. Vail's career went downhill from there. I was surprised to see that he lasted 10 years in the majors, until 1984.

In his rehab debut, Lindor played six innings at short and went 1 for 4.

Taylor also made his rehab debut and went 2 for 3 with a HR in five innings.

BREAKING NEWS …….
Freddy Perralta blows
Don't forget Vientos couldn't sprint back to catch the pop-up behind first base. Analytics should have found a player with defensive metrics to make that play. That would have been out #2. The next batter pops up to the left side of the field, and the inning is over. The score would have remained 1-0.

I am sure Peralta will go on the injured list soon making sure we can’t even trade him. Lol

Vientos sure is great run protection. But at least we have Polanco too. Who needs 35/110 at 1B when we improved 1B defense so much.

Is everyone fully aware this is the 4th full year for Baty
How many chances does he get ??

220 and no power
Tough play in first inning doesn’t excuse an absolutely horrendous throw

Other than the outfielders, there is nothing good about this team. Infield, pitchers, catchers, batting all are sub par. Soto with lots of dopey base running lately.

Baty does stink.
What the heck was he thinking throwing that ball?

And the pitching--oof.

Seriously, Soto, with Benge and Ewing for the future…McLean as a pitcher and that’s about it.
Really missing the first base coach from last year. Soto needs to learn base running discipline. It almost appears as he is trying to get out sometimes so he can go sit in the dugout. He tried to stretch a single to a double tonight, and he was out by 20 feet.

Stearns felt the need to replace every coach. I guess they didn't met his idea of analytical coaches.

I guess we didn't need Pete's 18HR's, and 52 RBI's and .250 avg. What a dumb mofo Stearns is.
Yeah- the thing is- we all know Pete is gone and he isn't coming back- so, before someone wants to make that statement, the reason Pete will be brought up is because of Stearns and less about Pete.

and almost comical that we have some fans that have been trying to compare of 1B production as almost equal to him in a way to try to defend Stearns.

Let's see what Stearns has brought us during his time here...
Over paid by about $10 mil for a hitter who can't play the field.
Over paid and even paid part of the salary of the outgoing guy to get a 2B that can field but not hit.
Over paid for an infielder who never played 1B to come in and be "run protection" at 1B and has not really seen the field and when he did- sucked
Got a CF who sucks...again
Brought in an Ace, that sucks
Brought in a closer who has gotten better but still sucks

And that is just this year
Over paid for 2 starting pitchers that really suck. Put all his eggs on Senga and Peterson, who really suck
Sticks with a manager he hired, that really sucks
Gets rid of coaches that didn't suck...

I don't know- am I missing his great moves?

I Never thought he wasn’t lazy but his numbers are good. The backend of his contract will probably be a nightmare but he’s one of the few legit starters the Mets have. Basically keep the outfield and McLean and try to move everyone else.

I think Soto was pressing, knowing the rest of the team can't do much to win. Semien is a backup at best. Polanco was a mistake from the start. Robert is always hurt, so why did Stearns think it would change? I know Stearns didn't think Vientos would be an upgrade at 1B? I haven't even mentioned the starting pitching.
