  • Schuyler is the county seat and largest city at ~6,500 residents.

  • Established in 1869 and named after Vice President Schuyler Colfax (VP to President Ulysses S. Grant).
  • Colfax County was created as part of a split of Platte County.
  • Schuyler was originally named Shell Creek and chosen as the county seat due to its station along the Union Pacific Railroad.

  • Wore #2 at safety for Nebraska from 1977 to 1981, lettering from 1979-1981. He played on the freshman team in 1977 and redshirted in 1978.
  • Approximately 6’0” and 180lbs
  • Came to Nebraska from Schuyler as a walk-on quarterback.
  • All-State QB that led Schuyler to a Class B state championship in 1976.
  • Played behind All-Big Eight safety Russell Gary in 1979 and 1980.
  • 1981 & 1982 Defensive Back Optimist Award Winner
  • First Team All-Big Eight 1981.
  • Honorable Mention All-American 1981.
  • Led Nebraska in 1981 with 4 interceptions.
  • Led Nebraska defensive backs with 63 tackles.
  • Played a key role in the Blackshirts’ nation leading pass defense (100.1 yards per game allowed) and 6th ranked total defense.

Krejci was a really good player, but I didn't realize he made first-team All Big 8.

I remember thinking the Huskers were absolutely screwed when Russell Gary graduated, because Gary was a terrific DB. But Krejci stepped in and played well.
