Should they be disappointed in their coach like we were when he finished 8th? I mean so many of you told me that. “We muh did it to oUrSeLvEs”.

Reality is, the SEC is just a beast. And we had a hell of a season, in our new coach’s first damn year. And it now appears we are purging the last of the Lemonis Losers.

Their SEC numbers are striking.

They ranked near the bottom of the conference in most pitching metrics, and their offense was largely average at best.

It highlights the league's depth.

Although the top teams may have an edge in elite talent, the overall disparity between teams 1-10'ish is minimal, making the conference exceptionally competitive.

Yep the ‘random’ team to win the title will now be lower level SEC or similar. No longer will it be Fresno State or Coastal Carolina (esp with Lemonis).

Different phenomena than football, where we aren’t as affected, but the blue bloods are weakened.

Distinct changes in college sports.

Coastal was in the Championship Series last year and Murray was in the CWS.

Troy made it this year.

There’s still plenty of opportunity for non P4 teams to make a run.

I don’t think so, as more years of this system drag on. We’re already seeing 50% of the CWS be SEC teams consistently.

I don’t disagree that we will see some runs. But the percentages are down that a lesser money team wins it.
But that’s always been true. In the last 70 years, the only non big conference teams to win it are Coastal, Fresno, Fullerton, Pepperdine, Wichita St and Rice. And only Fresno and Pepperdine can really be called one hit wonders. The other schools had top notch coaches and multiple good seasons.

So it’s always been rare.

There are star Freshmen all over this league. State may be better under BOC than ever and will still struggle to get to Omaha and/or win it. LSU is loading up from the portal. Vandy has made some great pick ups. Texas, Florida, Arkansas, A&M, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee are going hard at it already. What Georgia did in the conference this year is truly remarkable and they still couldn’t beat the 11 best SEC team in Omaha. The best ever SEC record in the 30 game season was 25-5. UGA was 23-7 this year. How many consecutive years has an SEC team won the NC? Heck, how many consecutive years has an SEC team been in the finals? When was the last time no team from the previous year’s CWS made it the next year? That means there were 16 different teams in Omaha the past 2 years and NONE were named Mississippi State!

Imagine how hard it was for 1 team to make it 3 straight seasons. 2018, 2019 (no tourney in 2020) 2021. That was State! Remarkable run in an event that is hard to make!

Eh, Oklahoma making the championship has moved my season grade from b to b-

I don't even think this is a hot take, but I think if the 2020 season would have played out that MSU team could/maybe should have been better postseason that they were in 2021.
Westburg & Foscue in the batting order in addition to TA, Rowdy, Kam James, Hancock, a better version of Josh Hatcher than we saw in 2021, Cumbest was a freshman and may have contributed. Kellum Clark, Dubrule, & Lane Forsythe will the only additions in 2021 and I'd prefer Westburg & Foscue.
McLeod was incredible early in 2021 (4-0 with an ERA below 1.00), JT Ginn was still around, and it looked like in Biloxi in the last 2 games that Sims & Bednar were about to become Sims & Bednar.

Alabama football would be claiming a National Championship

I’ve said it before & I still believe it. SEC tournament is every bit as tough as the College World Series.
It could be but too many SEC teams treat the tournament in Hoover like a glorified practice. They are trying new lineups and setting up pitching for the regionals. I go to Hoover every year and while it’s fun as heck, the intensity just isn’t there for most of the teams.

Oh it is nothing more than a glorified exhibition. But the field of teams is as strong or stronger than the CWS.

It’s stronger. How often do you see 4 or 5 Top 8 seeds in Omaha? It’s pretty common lately in Hoover.
