Lurked several boards for a long long time. Been posting here and only here since 22. All y'all weirdos made this place feel like home(even goat and gilfer) than other boards. Also hoping for some TV give aways at some point for us underlings!**
Whenever Genespage started......can't quite remember the year. But I do know that Gene Swindoll started it as a part-time gig and called it the "BOMB" initially. He was working for a railroad in Columbus as an accountant primarily but wanted a message board where MSU fans could share and read information about all the sports. It was a free board for the most part and he got his revenue from ads. Then later on started charging for it as a subscription and he added David Murray. As time went on and they got bigger, made a lot of money, he quit his job at the railroad, and hired some more reporters most here have heard of. Then I think his wife quit her job too and went full time with him. So basically he went from being an accountant to a webmaster over a pretty good sized MSU sports website.
Original Gene’s Page and BOMB, whenever that was; maybe with the inception of the internet. I was the OG internet troll on olemiss’ main message board. I had those asshats in civil war over whether or not they should just fire Tuberville and be done with him. I invented the internet troll; as in the very first.
1996. I was supposed to be doing my Computer Science lab in Butler Hall, but I was checking the scuttlebutt on Genespage.

Been here since the beginning. It's great to be free to express the positive and negative about State sports. Great commentary, venting and humor. Best board of any college team in my opinion other than back when LSUfreak was doing his gif thing on Tiger Droppings.
With that said, I'm hilariously disappointed to see people being banned recently for making fun of soccer. Without a doubt, the single weakest bítch move in the history of 6pack. Echos the sad little Gene Swindoll censorship vibe.

Because you and several others were insistent on bítching in every soccer thread that you don’t like soccer. So who’s the real bítch here. You were banned for 4 days, cry me a river.
That was the saddest Charlie Brown Christmas tree ever. I've got a screenshot of it somewhere in some computer file at Christmas, I tuned into the live webcam on top of The Wade Depot at night and took it. I was going to use it as a Christmas card but decided it was too underwhelming
Been reading State message boards the middle 1990’s. I purchased this weird looking computer thing from my American Express credit card gift catalog that I received in the mail sporadically. It was a IBM ps/1 dial up. A all in one computer that had a small screen, the cu, speakers, mouse, and keyboard. I thought it was the most amazing thing ever. I grew up with no computers and when I was at state you still had to use punch cards!
Got my first computer for work about '94ish, a Compaq 486 DX I believe it was. I got the Netscape software and the free AOL disc at some cash register check out like everybody else did (You've Got Mail) and installed it and thought I had arrived as a corporate executive. It actually only started me down a narrow road of unproductivity which continues to this day. I was a quiet polite lurker on the braided leather belt, blue denim jort board for a long while, never posted just observed because I didn't want to get booted off it. Then I heard about another sports website that majored in unproductivity that had just started and was intrigued. I heard that they only had mods that added you to some damn list if you disagreed with the majority** instead of banning you for life like Gene did and here I am.
Thanks guys, don't know what I would do without ya if this place wasn't around, probably have 'Yard of the Month' for best looking grass regularly instead of getting letters regularly from the HOA that I need to clean the place up

Late 90s....Living on Blackjack Road....dial up to be on genes page.....got banned a few times...remember being at a Talladega infield party and meeting another die hard dawg fan and he asked me if I had heard of SPS....I had not, but it was shortly after you started the board.
99 I think. I was a student at state. WCBI did a segment on a new MSU fan site run by some nerd named Gene.
Thankfully a few years later this board was born, allowing the more realistic portion of our fanbase a place to voice our opinions.
