  • Imperial is the county seat and the largest city in the county.
  • Separated from Hayes County in 1873, but not formally organized until 1886. Named after Champion Chase, a former Mayor of Omaha and Nebraska’s first Attorney General.
  • It was once said that besides the ranchers and their wives, Chase County was populated entirely by cowboys.
  • Frenchman Creek was used as a primary watering stop along the cattle drive from Texas to Ogallala.
  • Lots of opportunities for outdoor recreation can be found at Enders Lake and the golf course.
