I don't agree. I think the chances are very high one of those two guy ends up here IF Pope doesn't work out.I'd bet anyone a solid $50.00 that neither Oats or Billy D will ever coach here regardless of what happens with Pope. Those ships have sailed.
That sounds fun. How about this. If within the next 5 years Billy D or Oats become our coach, I'll change my avatar to whatever you want for a year. Except for anything ul. I refuse to do that.I don't agree. I think the chances are very high one of those two guy ends up here IF Pope doesn't work out.
As far as betting $50, I won't do that (religious reasons) but I will do an avatar wager on it. If Pope ever gets canned (hopefully he won't) let me know and we can work out the details on it.
I want some of this action @Phil_The_Music2. If for no other reason than to be able to give @Im The Village Idiot crap for the next few years. Just kidding. I like giving him a hard time because I know he can take a joke.I don't agree. I think the chances are very high one of those two guy ends up here IF Pope doesn't work out.

Sounds awesome, Phil! That sounds fun. How about this. If within the next 5 years Billy D or Oats become our coach, I'll change my avatar to whatever you want for a year. Except for anything ul. I refuse to do that.
Anyone is welcome. It'd be fun to add you. And yes, I'm good with a good ribbing.I want some of this action @Phil_The_Music2. but……..Before I commit to this bet, I need to know if Rick Barnes has removed himself from consideration.
There have been many coaches who have not won big in their first two years on a job that went on to do great things. I don't know if Pope is that guy or not, but unlike some, I am not going to stick my head in the sand and pretend he didn't face multiple key injuries year one and two, and acknowledge that his recruiting has obviously taken a turn for the better. If this team can't go out and have a successful season then there won't be any excuses for him, but I suspect he is going to have a great season and bring in a monster class for next yearThat's a myopic question. Let's expand the context.
If that coach fails in year three, after having a career winning percentage of 64%, never advancing past the Sweet Sixteen, historically failing to land a top 10 recruit (that changed with Hampton obviously), and never finishing top 5 in the SEC? Maybe.
I want Pope to succeed, but you and a few others make it seem like Pope has done something to change the narrative up until this point. He hasn't, not when it comes to on-the-court production.
This season will determine everything. I want Pope to win big and stay here for years to come. It really comes down to whether or not he can get it done this season.

He is partaking, he’s letting all the nut jobs know that they’re rantingNo one is forcing you to partake right?
Are this obtuse or just arguing for the sake of it. With no evidence, none of them are reliable. They have been wrong about almost everything else, so why would their 22 million dollar roster be any different. They have no inside source, they all. Just want clicks. I've explained this to you many times ,but you refuse to comprehend. As far as being bad when lowe and jq played...they were both injured, trying to play for parts of 4 games or less. It's ridiculous to believe they would not have been better or made the team better if fully healthy and played more than just a portion of 4 games. Again, you are to blinded by hate to see anything but your own agenda....sad. you have nothing But speculation, and preach it as fact. Again I don't care how much UK spent but you or no one else on here know what was actually spent. Why are you so adverse to thinking logically for yourselfYou don't think Goodman, Ben Roberts, Norlander, etc. have sources?
Answer the question.
You have nothing on your side except for your hunches that there's no way Pope could screw up a $22 million dollar roster. We weren't even good when Lowe and JQ were playing.
Meanwhile, there's literally no one on the inside that has offered a persuasive argument refuting the $22 million roster. Pope said there was misinformation about the Yaxel stuff, but for 6 months of the season last year, Pope and UK let the $22 million dollar rumor float.
Why are you so adverse to the idea that UK spent a fortune last year? Because we dare not Pope can't look bad?
They all do, given enough time. Hell some go off the rails by the first reply.Wow, this thread sure went off the rails.
Every thread here that gets 2+ pages you can just about count on that's become some type of pissing match.Man talk about derailing a thread. Turned into total nosense.
Pope had a dysfunctional group last year, it seemed to me he was trying different things to get them to click but there was no way to fix that chemistry issue. Despite OO and DA being the best players, they definitely didn’t elevate anyone around them.Minute restriction? Brother get ready to learn Mark Pope substitution patterns, some games you’ll play 5 some you’ll play 50
That team was a mess to begin with. What players could they elevate? Mo jacking 3’s? Moreno being soft and out of shape? Chandler doing anything but shoot 3’s?Pope had a dysfunctional group last year, it seemed to me he was trying different things to get them to click but there was no way to fix that chemistry issue. Surprisingly not my video game thread.Every thread here that gets 2+ pages you can just about count on that's become some type of pissing match.
We’ll never know because they weren’t capable of it.That team was a mess to begin with. What players could they elevate? Mo jacking 3’s? Moreno being soft and out of shape? Chandler doing anything but shoot 3’s?
That’s fair. Nobody can expect someone to have an avatar of such filth on this site. That sounds fun. How about this. If within the next 5 years Billy D or Oats become our coach, I'll change my avatar to whatever you want for a year. Except for anything ul. I refuse to do that.
I don't know if Dylan has legit sources or not, but at least on Gonzaga you're missing where he said that they don't want to PAY for a low minute guy. It's Gonzaga dipping out, not Kusturica.Dylan just guessing there. Says his camp wants a minutes restriction but yet might go to Michigan to start and not Kentucky to be a piece. Also don’t want to go to Gonzaga even though they see him as a low minute guy year 1. Dude does decent work but he spews some BS a lot too.
I've had to go back and edit this since I realized you are not even the one I was discussing this with. You have moved the goal post away from what was actually said while being rude and arrogant about it.You dead wrong. Dead wrong.
Pope spent as much as anyone and produced a top 40 team. There are a lot of coaches who would have produced a top 5-10 team with our budget.
I am sure Pope had the worst dollar spent per result in the history of the NIL era. Find me 10 worse. Or even 5. Or even 1.
Don’t let the facts hit your a$$ on the way out.
He said they don’t want to pay more than 3 million but Michigan offer is 3.5-4.5. So lot of contradictory info. But that’s what he does.I don't know if Dylan has legit sources or not, but at least on Gonzaga you're missing where he said that they don't want to PAY for a low minute guy. There's nothing contradictory in that. Gonzaga doesn't want to pay even $3M for a 15mpg guy while other schools are offering more than that, so Gonzaga is out. The ONE contradiction is him wanting a minutes restriction and Michigan wanting him to start or play a key reserve role. And that's not exactly something difficult to grasp - it would be something that's part of the negotiations. He said they don’t want to pay more than 3 million but Michigan offer is 3.5-4.5. It’s tough for you so you got it. His rambling never makes sense and he deletes things that he ends up wrong on. I respect his hustle though. He’s made a name for himself with making up stuff and getting some right with good guesses. There's nothing contradictory in that. I've never heard of this guy til this week so have no opinion of him whatsoever but you're clearly taking bad faith readings of thisIt’s tough for you so you got it. His rambling never makes sense and he deletes things that he ends up wrong on. I respect his hustle though. He’s made a name for himself with making up stuff and getting some right with good guesses.
Not that I don’t want it to work, all of us do especially guys around our era. That’s what so many seem to fall stupid to. Of course we want it. A former UK champ running things, protecting the program, bringing Pitino swag? wtf doesn’t want that?Mark Pope has never struck me as someone who can keep any positive momentum going. Hopefully he proves us wrong this time.
