Jmo but i think the big change is Pope finally delegated recruiting to the recruiter and got his goofy self out of the way.

Ab3 was widely considered the best recruiter in college basketball. Yet how many times did you see him in pics with the recruits? Hardly ever. It was always Pope doing something corny.

That's the difference. Pope finally realized he needs to let the recruiter do the recruiting.

We heard for 15 years about recruiting. It netted UK 1 title. Let's see if there guys can win something that matters first before overreacting.
That was Cal’s fault for taking the air out of the ball when he did have superior talent. He didn’t let the thoroughbreds out of the stable when it was time to go. Rick or Tubby would have won at least one more title with those players.

Sometimes I prefer the troll posts that litter the board v posts like these. The trolls at least know they're intentionally posting nonsense.
In many instances the the over the top pumper posters are the trolls. The Popeganda campaign is strong on this board.

We just hired the guy, and presumably, came to an employment agreement based on pre-agreed upon compensation, benefits, perks, vacation, etc.

His job is to lock up recruits.

He has done that. So far, just once in fact.

Can we have a decent season before we start crowning this staff? We have been down an assistant for over a month and Crawford sure isn't guaranteed.
So far so good. I like it. If we get a stacked class next year and we win big this year then lock them down with raises if needed. I’m sure he’s paid well.

Maybe so, but AB3 didn’t recruit squat here so something wasn’t working I agree.

If Pope will grow out his hair and fill out that beard, he can recruit too. The bald look doesn't work for him.

They couldn't recruit those players. This has and always will be a silly argument.

Once a man gets past about 6'4 or 6'5 they have commanding presence by default but if you do anything to counter that instinctual impression it almost flips to big goofy dummy.

At Pope's height he has to give a more serious, tougher seeming first impression to avoid mental car crashes from who he is addressing.

Silly as it is a beard, a little hair, and being a little more matter of fact to start could do a lot.

Channel Nate Oats delivery style, keep the beard and the weirdo stuff will diminish.

Once he is in he can be more himself to a degree but being that tall and any bit goofy to start puts him on the wrong foot instantly.

He was the closer on Hampton. All of these top guys we are in with rave about him.
And to be fair, kudos to MP for hiring him.
Pope needs great sustained ts. Bill Selfs top assistant brings the players in. Self has given the job and gets it done. Shut up morons.

This fan base is so hard up for any kind of achievements anymore. We celebrated a crystal ball pick like it was a natty just two days ago. Sad

This is looking like it will be a competitive roster. Now he has to go win with it.

I seriously doubt it’s nonsense.

Obviously more data will tell us better but the truth is before this past month not only did Pope never land any type of undamaged top 15 type guy, for the most part even all the halfway decent recruits who ever did anything besides string him along and laugh in his face were special cases like Jaxson Robinson who bloomed later but who seemed to be on his last legs when Pope first took him, Chandler who was a Mormon and chose BYU by default, Moreno who is from Georgetown, and some fifth year COVID seniors Pope’s first year who weren’t being recruited by anyone else serious because rosters were full up (including Kobe Brea after Hurley decided to go with Aidan Mahaney.) There were some exceptions to that rule but nothing anywhere close to what we’ve signed recently.

Correlation is not causation but causation always causes correlation. With the Mo Williams and Keagan Brown hires being the only obvious change in mechanics around here it certainly makes perfect sense as a working hypothesis that one of them made the difference. And if we’re really down to that then how crazy is it really to think that Williams is the one working the magic?

Umm, speaking as a middle aged white dude, it may not be a styling choice as much as a necessity.

We seem to have more juice with Mo.

I think we should be a little wait and see with Hampton. He’s the exception so far with high school recruiting and Pope. Should be fair and it least consider why that may be.

Acaden Lewis was a good get also.

Hopefully the uptick continues.
