I think you’ve added an inch to at least 4 of those guys. (That’s what she said).

Nope, those are the official measurements.

Below is how UK has them listed (by order of jersey number).

#0 Zyon Hawthorne: 6-2, 165
#1 Jerone Morton: 6-4, 190
#2 Braydon Hawthorne: 6-8, 195
#3 Kam Williams: 6-7, 210
#4 Mason Williams: 6-3, 210
#5 Zoom Diallo: 6-6, 195
#9 Trent Noah: 6-5, 225
#10 Alex Wilkins: 6-6, 170
#11 Franck Kepnang: 7-0, 275 (!!!)
#19 Ousmane N’Diaye: 7-0, 215
#21 Justin McBride: 6-8, 250

Moreno was tall last year and he wasn't a good rebounder. Hoping he's worked on his grip strength over the summer ;)

Kid averaged 11rpg per 40 and he wasn't a good rebounder? He's no Oscar but those are very good numbers for anyone, let alone a freshman big man in the deepest SEC in history.

He wasn't?
No, he wasn't. Moreno certainly got his share of rebounds operating in a confined cylinder/space because he is tall and wide bodied. But he generally rebounded poorly outside of his space (chase-down rebounds, hustle rebounds, etc). More concerning, he lost a LOT of 50:50 balls that were wrestled away from him (strength, technique), and also had a tendency to lose the ball to smaller defenders after initially securing it (hand strength, bringing the ball down).

I'm not bashing or being overly critical- just pointing out that he has a big opportunity to improve his stock and performance as a more dominant rebounder. I look for Moreno to be a MUCH better rebounder this season for UK.

See my post just above. I don't disagree that 11 per 40 is solid. But he could have been much better. And I believe he WILL be this season. Kid's been putting in the work.

The tallest team last year was Illinois and they got to the final four. If we even get to the elite eight then that would be a huge success.

Fair enough. I’ll revise my statement to, we’re lucky many of these guys have grown from what they were listed last year. Even 24 year old Kepnang. lol.

To be fair, looks like Kam shrank.

I always take any universities "official" height numbers with a grain of salt. These are always done with shoes on which can skew the numbers wildly in the positive, or in some cases, if a player switches shoe models and opts for a lower profile basketball shoe, make it look like they shrunk. I just don't think it matters that much if you are 6'11" and listed at 7'0" or vice versa. Or 6'5" but listed at 6'7". It's not like 5'10" guys are being listed as 6'4". lol

Have we ever had 4 seven footers on a UK squad. I can't recall one if we have. If we don't lead conference in blocks it will be crimminal. In keeping with the spirit of the thread we should really be able to fill it up down low.

Projected starters in my opinion:

Diallo 6'6"
Wilkins 6'6"
Momcilovic 6'9"
McBride 6'8" or N'Diaye 7'0" (could end up a toss up)
Moreno 7'0"

We should be able to rebound with the best of them.
Not to nitpick, but you are off on everyone’s height except for Moreno.

No he’s using UK athletics. The heights and weights have been updated.

I don't think we are making it to the elite eight either which is why I said if he did then it would be a huge success.
I fully believe this is a Final Four-capable team... Of course, most of us thoughts the same about last year's team.

No other Pope team here has had this much quality guard depth or this many shooters. If Pope can get us to a Sweet Sixteen with half a PG and get us to 22 wins last year with a roster that seemingly hated itself and had zero shooters and zero PGs, I feel pretty solid about this team.

Plus, we have five PGs. If zero PGs gets us Ro32 and half a PG gets us to the second weekend, five PGs means we'll win the natty. The numbers don't lie, Man.

Something I’ve wondered with Pope’s teams is how much strength training they actually do? His guys don’t seem to get much stronger or more muscular.

I knew someone would point to Oweh, who was jacked before he got to UK. Even if he wasn’t, that’s one guy. I’m speaking to the overall pattern. Even if you can point to one or two guys that gained some muscle over the past two seasons, what about the other 20+ that haven’t? I’d like to see the majority of our guys getting bigger and stronger. I’d rather be wrong but I think this is an area the coaches are not focusing on enough, especially considering the conference we’re in.

I don’t disagree with you. It was a joke.
