Does RutgerAl do more harm than good to the fan base with his vapid weekly posts considering he himself doesn't do more than the bare minimum to support Rutgers athletics?

Al doesn't turn me off as much as several other regular posters do. THe "Al problem" is easily solved the way I've solved mine with other posters. It's called "ignore".

His posts were funny at one point when he was predicting national championships and Heisman trophies but the constant whining and complaining about lack of donations is exhausting. We are all obviously rabid fans of the school for one reason or another but not everyone is on board with donating their hard earned money to some 18 year old to play a sport for a year for 6 figures. While I want RU to succeed I have no interest in giving a penny to anyone to wear the RU jersey for a year, just not happening.

Everyone needs to look in the mirror. A lot of talkers, very few doers.
Not sure what this means. The folks on this board are doing no different than Al. I doubt the big donors are on here (free board)...maybe a few. Al is preaching to the choir on here. He needs to take his message elsewhere. His crap is only turning me off and I donated more this year than ever. I feel like going the other way now.

Seems like you do understand what it means.

Some people don't want give to what they consider a losing cause.
Some gave some, and they get berated for not giving enough.
Some gave a lot, and got pissed on and then pissed off.
Rutgers needs to do much better with donors.
And posts like yours and Al's -wagging your fingers at other fans does not help. It's off-putting. But I also stand by what I said that this poll and OP is in very bad taste, and should be taken down.

That is all true. Also not unique to RU. I’m not pointing fingers at anyone. I’m also not offended by what AL is posting. It’s a free msg board and what he is saying isn’t wrong.

But the point about doing better with donors is a major issue.
I just did a minor donation to a school in Colorado in memory of a recently deceased friend. When I say minor, it was a tiny fraction of what we have given to Rutgers. It was a night and day experience from start to finish. And before anyone jumps in and concludes that some donors should be happy giving and not expect anything in return, it is not about that. So, AL's posts, and sometimes your, are perceived by some as finger wagging. I will look for some skin cream to grow a thicker skin.

And as far as the point about that losing cause, that goes hand in hand with Rutgers doing better with donors. Watched the tail end of the B1G moment about the Louisville win. That was a wonderful moment in time that got everyone amped up. But that was 20 years ago. We have not had anything close to that moment in time since then on the football side. We have had moments on the men's basketball side, but both programs have regressed to or below the mean.

Some of the most active posters spend a majority of their time trolling and trying to bully others. Unfortunately, we're talking about grown men here haha. Some of them just need attention I guess...sad really

Considering we have people on this board who live in NJ and don't attend ANY games in person, there is definitely a lower threshold than not being a donor.

He might piss me off, but doesn't turn me off.
Don't want to see his posts, put him on ignore.
Polls like this are a turnoff.
Al might not be everyone's cup of tea but he has every right to serve his tea and the rest of us could ignore him or read his tea leaves and complain about what he says .
There's no need starting a poll about liking or disliking anyone on this board, it only leads towards more bad feelings and there's enough family feuds on this board already.
Rutgers Nation should be friends agreeing and disagreeing on Rutgers issues , not looking for ways to put une another down.

But only one of those talkers posts weekly messages about everyone else needing to donate more money when they don’t donate.
Are you checking his bank account to know what he does or doesn't contribute??? Al's posts regarding money have gotten old but I can think of 3 or 4 other morons who lie and exaggerate to embellish their posts who I wish would go root for someone else.

Voter turnout was low and mail-ins are still being counted but as it stands now the anti-Al crowd vote is less than two dozen. Maybe it would be best for everyone if those 22 learned to ignore Al instead of trying to turn every one of his posts into pissing matches.

If you’re reading this Al don’t let the few get you down.

It's obviously fraud, the anti-Al vote was bigly and then there was a 3AM ballot drop. The anti-Al vote could still win if Chris Ash has the courage!

More likely the Al posts have driven away the loyal fans here. I know I come here was less than before. My guess is overall traffic is way down.

Same back at you. Al admitted in the other thread he only contributes what he needs to get a parking pass.

Someone already covered this…

I don't get pissed off at the posts. Instead I have Rutgers Al fatigue after all these years. I see the thread title/poster and it consistently elicits an involuntary roll of the eyes and a sigh. Then I scroll on by.
For the most part, nobody cares.

I doubt most on here do or vote in the poll thing anyway. I certainly don’t.

I’ll chime in on Al first.

questioning his fandom and or what he contributes to the program is way out of line.

questioning his posts- well, fair game.

for me- I used to love his over the top predictions. And found it funny that so many people did not understand how brilliant in an entertainment sense, many of his posts were.

the new Al- I have said it to him many times- the constant donation thing, has become very annoying to everyone and may actually be making those on the dense, to not donate.

but to question his fandom and dedication- completely wrong and I would assume, you don’t know him.

With has much damage has he does (video sent to Huggins alone) and his non financial support, you can argue he's a terrible fan doing more damage than helping.

+1
And he’s not even focusing on the real problem with RU. We have no whales. Everyone on the board can double or triple donations and it won’t matter at all. Until we land a true whale or two, we will be under resourced. Everything else is just background noise.

So essentially, his posts are stupid and pointless.

No one is posting anything about DeadbeatAl he himself hasn’t posted. If you are going to continually call out a community for not doing enough, when you aren’t doing anything, expect barbs to fly back.
