Maxx Yehl has overcome a lot | West Virginia University Sports ...
Maxx Yehl (often spelled Yehl) is a dominant, 6-foot-6 left-handed pitcher for the West Virginia Mountaineers, widely regarded for his elite size, projectable frame, and a strong rebound following Tommy John surgery. He was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Physical Profile & Mechanics
  • Height/Weight: 6-foot-6, 210–235 lbs.
  • Body: Tall, long lower half with a highly projectable pro frame.
  • Delivery: Features a high leg lift and steady, fluid momentum toward the plate. He works out of a mid-to-high 3/4 arm slot with long, loose arm action and good downhill plane. [1, 2, 3]

Pitch Arsenal
  • Fastball: Sits in the low-to-mid 90s, featuring late life and excellent downhill plane that makes it difficult to square up.
  • Breaking Ball: Features a sharp, late-breaking curveball with 1-7 shape that he uses to generate whiffs down in the zone.
  • Changeup: Displays late fade, used effectively to keep right-handed hitters off balance. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Key Statistics & Accolades
  • 2026 Season Stats: Posted a 9-2 record with a 2.10 ERA, 105 strikeouts, and just 24 walks across 90.0 innings pitched.
  • National & Conference Honors: Named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year. He was also a finalist for the National Pitcher of the Year award (the Dick Howser Trophy) and named an ABCA/Rawlings East All-Region First Team selection.[1, 2, 3, 4]

Scouting Summary & MLB Draft Projection
Scouts praise Yehl for his composed, shutdown mentality and the ability to pitch deep into games, even when getting into early jams. After forgoing pro opportunities to stay in college following an injury, his dominant return has elevated his draft stock, with major outlets (such as ESPN, Baseball America, and Perfect Game) ranking him as a Top 150–250 overall draft prospect. [1, 2, 3]

Ryan Lynch day. Paid for 1/2 my trip to Omaha on Friday's game. Let's hope the rest cashes today. My money is on the Heels. Can't see Troy winning, but that's why they play the games. 59 degrees here zero humidity and a good breeze. It seems to be always a 10-20 mph wind here. Thanks for the writeup Doc.

sure feels that way as of late.

But hey! No one said it was going to be easy. To be the best, you gotta beat the best.

I would stay with Winston , big hit late vs SC, He going to bust out of his slump eventually, let him play trough it . I like Carter in RF also , Rom on bench to pinch hit vs lefty if we need him late in game,
