A lot of those stats are pretty similar. The difference that jumps out to me is that WVU doesn't have very good power numbers for a national seed. They're worse than UNCs, which are already below average for a national seed.

Their SOS is a little higher, but it's more Q2/Q3 games.

The most notable difference is the Q1 results. UNC is 17-5 (77%) compared to 13-7 (65%) for WVU. The Heels have been clutch all year.

I didn’t realize West Virginia is rated so high in metrics. Although part of it is probably their recent form in the tournament.

Like others have said they have elite pitching. Glad they threw Cole yesterday, he is kind of a junk baller with a +++ change that I think we would have struggled with. With saying that though I do not have much knowledge of their pitcher for tomorrow other than his numbers are also elite (know next to nothing about his pitching style)

We’re on an incredible run of pitchers faced. No other team has come close to facing that stretch of elite starting pitching.
Everyone is saying WVU is “team of destiny” and “hottest team.”

they’ve had a good run, no doubt. But they’ve faced Kentucky (one of the last teams in the field), Cal Poly, and Troy.

let’s end their run!

WVU pitched off yesterday and saved Maxx Yehl for Sunday... big lefty with a 10-2 record and the best ERA in the Big 12... top five ERA in the country.
Is it really considering they pitch off? Or did they just keep Yehl on schedule without moving him up multiple days?

he pitched in game 7 of the regionals on a Monday. So instead of moving him up, they kept him on Saturday for supers.

They didn’t “save” their ace on Friday. They have a 1a and 1b elected to go with the righty because Troy mashes lefties. The most important thing from that game was that their best/long-reliever had to throw over 70 pitches in relief in 6 innings

Troy smashes lefties that’s why they didn’t go with Yehl
