Hampton reminds me of Rudy Gay.

I've seen listings of Hampton being closer to 6'7" than he is 6'6". Rudy Gay was 6'8" when he played for Calhoun. Hampton is precisely the type of player that eluded Calipari for most of his career - the spidery 6'6" to 6'8" pure wing who can guard three positions on the floor. His long arms are Pippen-esque but his offensive game is very much RG-like.

Hampton is such a huge get. I'm ecstatic. This is what Kentucky should be doing every year in recruiting, and it feels good knowing that he could be the cornerstone piece for Pope to turn this program around.

I love the fact that his cousin is the number ONE player in the nation! From the sounds of it, they’re like brothers. Man, oh man! Lock his *** up Pope!
Hampton's commitment helps tremendously in Spears recruitment.

To be a fly on the wall and listen to Hampton (his dad as well) telling Spears how blown away they were during the OV.!!!

Now amplify that with the announcement of Crawford!!!

Agreed! This is the prototype of hybrid G/ Wing that K was notorious for getting during his battles with Calipari 10-12 years ago!

Reminds me of Keldon Johnson. One year at UK then 29th pick to Spurs. At UK, 13.5 ppg 5.9 rbd, 46% floor, 38% 3. 6'6, slender like Hampton

His wingspan is probably bigger. Think it’s a plus 3 wingspan.

I could see it. He was a monster at UConn.

I'm not sure what his measurables are, but Gay was a really long 6'8". I believe he played two years as well. Left that program with one of their most embarrasing losses in program history, George Mason to go to the F4. 7'3" wingspan and 40 inch vertical leap. Those are amazing. He lacked killer instinct.

Yes ... with a little bit of Derek Anderson and Ron Mercer thrown in ... what I see in his playing style. He looks very good to me ...

Rudy Gay was 6’9 or taller not 6’6.

Saul said 6’8” when playing for UConn and that agrees with 247 sports apparently

Rudy Gay might be the worst comparison ever as far as I know. I don’t deep-dive high school stuff. But the height listed in his post wasn’t egregiously off the mark.

He may not be…but you don’t know that one way or another more than the rest of us. I don’t know the future and neither do you.

If this team finishes with 12 losses, a 5 seed and a second round loss, I’d expect a lot more people will feel he isn’t the right man for the job.

If this team finishes with 9 losses, a 3 seed and a Sweet 16 loss, I’d expect people to be on the fence.

If this team finishes with 5 losses, a 1 seed and a Final Four, I’d expect everyone to largely agree he’s the man.

No one knows.

I remember when we played them in the game I believe before that. I believe it was 05 or 06? UCONN was tough back than too.

If we get another doubt digits loss. I’m absolutely out. I’m on the fence now with the way the off season ended. He’s straight in prove it and show me mode now.

They had the preseason 1 that year, I believe they had 4 first round draft picks and a second rounder, yet flamed out to a mid major. It was an imbalanced roster with not enough ball handling, maybe worst loss in Calhoun's tenure. UConn was good well before that though, they had two titles by that team.

For sure. They still beat us like a drum.
