Thinking about getting a space over that way…owners seem great

As greasy as it is, their lineup of southern cooking is impressive. The closest thing to is might be Cracker Barrel. 😬
I haven't been to one since I was a kid, but I thought it was fantastic way back then (1980s).

When I lived in Greenville some years later in college and shortly thereafter, they opened one up there (edit to my previous comment: I did go to that one once.). I was very surprised that it did not do well at all and went out of business after maybe a year or so. I was sure it would do a bang-up business.

As long as I'm talking about SC restaurants, these ones that no longer exist come to mind: The Bounty. Went there maybe once when I was very young...have a very vague recollection eating there, but recall driving by it many times after it went out of business. Seemed like a fantastic idea...seafood restaurant in a ship on a lake.

Po' Folks. Loved it when I was a kid. I think someone bought the name and there are a few in Florida.

Sikes BBQ. This was my first ever taste of BBQ...and HASH....and I fell in love instantly.

Duff's. Rotating buffet blew my mind.

My kids loved Po' Folks and were fascinated by the Mason Jar tea glasses.
The whacky menus were epic. They used to have all you can eat fried chicken & they had good biscuits.

Cracker Barrel is a decent replacement if you don't have a good mom-and-pop meat-and-three place in your town. I tell people out here in Montana that Cracker Barrel is just the corporate version of "normal food" for us in the south. When I lived in the south, I hardly ever ate there because there were usually better options serving the same type of thing (in Anderson, for example, Mama Penn's). Now, that I'm out here, when I'm in Missoula or Billings, I eat there every chance I can to get a southern fix. If there was a Lizard's Thicket around here, I'd never need CB.

Just avoid the Cracker on St Andrews Road, I have had multiple terrible experiences there with long waits and messed up orders, When the food comes its cold, as it was just sitting round back in the kitchen LOL. Very poorly managed imho, but its been a few months since my last visit, and I probably will not go to that one ever again,

Yeah, country cookin' is a lot more interesting right now than parking for football games.
