Louisville Paying Players ON CREDIT

Being reported on @ESPNLouisville
Schools can only contribute so much to the players compensation, the rest is tied to earnings from businesses using their NIL for marketing and such. More than likely, what is happening, is the collective pool they use to pay players isn’t fully funded at this point and boosters and other revenue streams will eventually get added.

I bet it is something like that just being if twisted to sound like a story.

They better hope it gets funded or else they may have some issues shortly.

The roundhouse got a new remodel and everything, gotta be at least $100 in that NIL fund by now!
What’s funny is I posted about the “Affirm” method Louisville was using one week into portal season and posters laughed but it’s the truth. They will be bankrupt in 5 years at the pace they are on, as will other schools too.

I made a post on UofL and other schools as well, in my facebook, which, of course, nobody will ever see or pay attention to, some time ago.... talking about the insane money and the payouts and the credit card mentality and just the whole entire system is nuts.

Agents are saying " show me the bank statement" before they are letting thier players sign with schools. Louisville is like .... we gotta gold card.... let's put 7$ million on it ! C'mon down ! And the agents are saying NO.

hahaha

If schools pay north of 20$ million per year for basketball, then how much for football ? 30$ - 40$ million ? Every freaking year ?!?!?

It's not sustainable.

Gonna need a new crop of squirters who can reach the ceiling to land future committments.
Need to refinish that pipeline, but honestly the OG ones were Woof and I don’t know how they secured a commitment in the first place. Even regular Co-Ed’s on campus were 10x’s the pull of those girls.

I agree. No way these schools can pay these kids this kind of money without a billionaire or 3 just blowing money to win right now.

Players will die to get to collective bargaining after it fails. These early players are cashing out fast. I mean they will make good money from revenue share but guys aren’t getting 6-7-8 million for long IMHO. Maybe from Duke and Stanford and schools with billions of donor money.

Im going to guess its more complex than just that. Most good businesses use leverage anyway. Its probably just a structured deal rather than upfront, which I would argue is smart for the school because it gives some leverage in a sit out situation.

Whatever they did, it worked because they have a really good roster. If they were able to land those guys on "credit" while we struggled to get guys it is troubling.

UofL had to get a line of credit last year that has nothing to do with NIL. Don't act like you have a big scoop. You haven't been right about anything in 4 months.

I wish they would be, but if they are using signed commitments from boosters, they are not using school monies.
