Just looking at the list the UCONN pitcher looks interesting. Stating the obvious, seems coach is well connected in the NE so that one would make sense to me.

Probably not popular, but I’m not not concerned about starting catcher or SS if Lew and Ryder return.

I expect them both to make nice production and fielding improvements and be key cogs on the 2027 team.

Lew has been steadily improving the last weeks of the season and this was Ryder’s first season as a regular player. He’s still young.

If there’s a stud at either spot in the portal who wants to play here great, but if not I think we’ll be fine with those two guys.

So the 6th highest ranked pitcher transfer (including the Mercer 1B/RHP), and the 16th overall prospect is a rising senior that just finished his Jr. year at USCe with a 5.19 ERA? He started his last 4 games and made it an average of 3.8 innings while going 0-3? Am I missing something? Was excited at first to see a USCe pitcher ranked that high thinking Parker might still have some connections, but that doesn't jump out to me as a guy that's about to break out.

I’m with you. I feel like you’re going to hear about Woodson putting up some big numbers in summer ball (no idea where he’s playing or anything).
Milewski was obviously getting going at the end of the season. I’d like to think we could get a guy who stood a chance of throwing out a baserunner, though.

Stud = Will Brick if he chooses college and If he does come I can't imagine that there's not some expectation of significant playing time. And yes, I know he will be a freshman, but so was Parker. The question will be can he hit well enough at this level because defensively they project him as a top prospect . We also have 3 SS listed on our commit list with one being Maniscalco. In previous years, I would say no chance some of these guys come to school, but NIL has changed that, so it will be interesting.

From what I've been told, Maniscalco likely won't be going to college.

Not doubting you because I have no idea how good my sources are, but I am being told just the opposite. I will admit that none of them are family or in what is probably his inner circle. Don't know if it's wishful thinking but I am hearing more and more that with the introduction of NIL, players and their families are favoring the college experience over what is single A ball bus rides. College gives them the better experience and allows them to mature around players their own age, not to mention quality training and facilities. But like I said earlier, I don't have any certainties that what I am hearing is true.

MSU's #1 goal is to find some bullpen depth and preferably a dominant closer. I think we'll find some top position players who can hit, and we have good starting pitching returning. Need to establish a 4th starter, dominant closer and 4-5 reliable relievers and we'll be able to compete for championships.

I don’t think anybody really knows for sure yet, including Maniscalco himself. Depends on the draft. He’s a Top 60 MLB prospect, so it likely depends a lot on his pick position and bonus offer.

Generally speaking, he can get $2.5-$3 million or so over 3 years at MSU, then still get the big signing bonus in 3 years if he’s productive. He also moved up a classification, so he can play 3 years at MSU and still only be 20 when he’s drafted, and have plenty of time to develop in the minors.

It seems like these guys wanna play professionally but hey that can be accomplished coming to school these days. I'd much rather ride the MSU bus to games and go play summers in the cape than get lost in A or AA ball. **** at least you get time on TV playing in college not so much in the minors.

Yeah. There’s a lot of good reasons to go to college. Especially now. Unless you’re projected to be in the majors by 20, you’re probably going to have a much more enjoyable life in college.

What were the top 25 rankings a year ago? How good at these lists at predicting the next year? Who can ever really know how well someone with good stats in a lower conference will translate to the SEC?

He also reclassified so he can manipulate his draft odds a year earlier. He'll be draft eligible as a sophomore, if he comes to school.
