OT: 53 years ago today Secretariat wins the Belmont

He had a son who would have been an all time great if he had not gotten injured. Risen Star ran 3rd in the Derby after getting blocked and a terrible ride but then won the Preakness and Belmont very easily.
One of my employees was mom to a Secretariat handler. So I got to visit him a few times.

Greatest single athletic performance in the history of all sports. I've watched that race hundreds of times over the years and still get goosebumps. Iconic call by Chic Anderson also.

Folks need to checkout the espn sports century piece on Secretariat. It's very good.
John Calipari would have eased him halfway through the stretch.
He would have told him to "Go" and then substituted a favorite of his instead.
