Not trying to jinx anything, but my wife and I are discussing POTENTIALLY making the trip out if we were to advance to the title. Trying to piece together a tentative itinerary and look at best/cheapest routes and options to get out there so that we are prepared if it happens.

Curious as to what everyone else has had the most success with when it comes to the travel out. Flying out of Charlotte and I have seen there are 5 potential airports to travel in to (Omaha, Lincoln, Kansas City, Des Moines, and Sioux Falls). Cheapest hotels I've found have been Lincoln. What airline are you using? Which destination city? Anyone mixing and matching one way flights to one place and flying home out of another?

Any other tips/pointers and traveling out that you can provide would be appreciated. Put in my Rams Club request for 2 tickets, though I'm not sure I am ranked high enough to have them fulfilled.

Nebraska fan here. Omaha would be the easiest. The airport 7 mins from Schwab Field. Lincoln if you are able to get a good price is fine. It’s an hour away from downtown Omaha.

Hotels. Obviously the closer you are to the stadium probably the more expensive. The stadium is in the Builders District. Key benefit would be able to go back to your hotel in down time. Price difference could outweigh Ubers if that’s something you want to do.

if you want to go to the area around the stadium and stay all day, anywhere in Old Market, Capital District, or downtown is fine. It can be a little bit of a jaunt, but is totally walkable.

Otherwise, could stay close to Midtown, Blackstone, Aksarben, or really anywhere in West Omaha. Blackstone is very close to downtown, but I would say not walkable, but a short Uber. Blackstone has a lot of bars and restaurants. I’d recommend going in your downtime if you want something different from DT Omaha. Midtown is right by Blackstone as well. 5-10 minute Uber from Blackstone

Aksarben is further away but has lots of bars and restaurants as well. Probably a 15 -20 minute Uber to stadium.

West Omaha is pretty much all suburbs. Can probably find a cheaper rate if you don’t mind renting a car or having a longer Uber.

Lincoln is totally doable if you want to stay there. I’d recommend Haymarket or downtown Lincoln if you want things to do. Otherwise if you stay on the North East side of Lincoln along I-80 you can get to downtown Omaha in 45 minutes depending on traffic

I supposed you could do KC, Des Monies, or Sioux Falls, but all are about 2 to 2 1/2 hours away. Short of being significantly cheaper, I’d stick to Omaha or Lincoln.

Thanks for the insight. If we make it, looking at flying in around noon on Saturday (game at 7) and flying out on Tuesday morning. Definitely looking at car rental, so that's why I'm leaving the Lincoln option open.

Traditionally fly with American, but wasn't sure if others had success with cheaper airlines elsewhere.

Haven’t flown to NC, so couldn’t say. But Omaha’s biggest airlines are probably United and Southwest.

Two years ago, I found it significantly cheaper to fly Delta from Charlotte to Atlanta to Kansas City, then rent a car and drive. I get really cheap deals with Avis through work, so rental car prices weren't something I considered when comparing flights to Omaha. Des Moines wasn't an option since there was a NASCAR race that weekend and the majority of the industry is located in Charlotte/Concord.

I stayed in the Old Market, which was a perfect location since it was close to the stadium and a bunch of bars and restaurants. I would strongly suggest doing this even if it's going to cost more. It was just a better experience being within walking distance of everything and never needing to worry about transportation.

As far as tickets go, screw going through the Rams Club. You've traveled all the way there; why let a points system dictate where you're going to sit? If the Heels make it that far, there will be plenty of Carolina fans in Omaha, and you can try to find seats in sections around where the Rams Club will have donors and where the families will be sitting. For the Friday game vs. Virginia, I bought a seat behind the Carolina dugout. Then, for the Sunday game vs. Tennessee, I just bought the cheapest ticket I could because I had befriended several other Carolina fans and former baseball players, and I just stood in the concourse behind the family section with them. I stood next to Shea Sprague's dad the entire game.

On Monday, I flew back to Charlotte direct on American. The overall price was outrageous, but it was worth every penny to get to experience something I've wanted to for years.

Did flights last night. We are basically equidistant from RDU, GSO and CLT airports. Have flown into KC on past trips to CWS, but decided to forego car rental and fly into Omaha this year. Best deal we found last night was CLT to Omaha traveling out on Tuesday (to be there for possible Wednesday game in bracket finals) and back on following Tuesday the day after possible game 3 of championship bracket. That was on AA.
