(Seriously though, the zoo is a good option. I'd recommend getting an all-session pass because there's not a ton to do in Omaha aside from the CWS and drinking with SEC fans, the latter of which obviously doesn't suit your needs.)
There’s a mini replica of old rosenblatt in the parking lot of the zoo where rosenblatt was. Between that and the zoo is a pretty cool visit.
I have lived in Omaha my entire life. Can confirm you and your son are going to have a blast! Just walking around outside of the stadium is a great time. The tailgate scene, especially the first weekend when you are there, is sight to see. The baseball village across will be set up with tents for vendors and a fan fest as well. Downtown has some fantastic food and drink options. Can give recommendations depending on what kind of food you like. You need to try Coneflower Creamery in Millwork Commons (very close to the stadium). Best ice cream in town and annually in competition for best in the country. Highly recommend the Henry Doorly Zoo on an off day (not far from downtown). It's huge and a great time. But it's busy, and of course crazier during the CWS so plan accordingly. There's a mini field/shrine of Rosenblatt Stadium in the parking lot where the original stadium was located. I have so much nostalgia for Rosenblatt and love taking my 3 year old to this when we visit the zoo. What area of town are you staying? That might help me give you some specific recommendations. Plan on it being very hot with rain always looming. Excited for you both!
SAC Museum is very cool. Bout a 30+ minute drive from downtown.
This is a super helpful post. I was tardy on securing a hotel and settled for a Holiday Express in Gretna. We will have a car though.
Any idea of what a ticket will cost on stub hub if my family and I were to make the trip? Does anyone sell any at the park? Trying to put a plan together.

Tickets are not the financial burden that the hotel and flights are..I expect prices to go down closer to the game, but Friday night against an SEC foe is a hot ticket.
I played golf about every day I was there in 2013 and 2018.
I'm thinking about leaving tomorrow night and actually making the drive. Crazy I know but would be a good chance to sight see along the way.
Hot take: Zesto's is overrated. Too much like Dairy Queen for my liking. It's also a chain. There are locations in Atlanta and Columbia, SC.
However, the Drover is a must in Omaha for the baseball crowd.
If you’re staying in Gretna then you definitely need to go to the Strategic Air Museum in Ashland - it’s a very short drive from Gretna.

I bought outfield tickets for Sunday through Ticketmaster. After fees, they cost me about $110 per ticket. I just don't want to stress about tickets the day of the game. I bought tickets for Friday night a few rows behind our dugout. Those were much more expensive but worth it to me for a bucket list trip.

Checked flights today out of Houston. Thanks to Texas making it, tickets were starting around $1k!
American has an early morning one-way from IAH into KC for $170, with plenty of time to make the drive before opening pitch.
Even better, Allegiant has a one-way from Hobby to Des Moines (nonstop) for $86. They are practically paying you to go to the game at that price.
If anyone has 2 extras in UNC section I’d be interested. Looks like request wasn’t fulfilled which isn’t surprising as it wasn’t two years ago and expect record demand.

You will have a little jaunt to get downtown from Gretna. But you will definitely want downtown to be your hub each day you are here.
I believe they are doing a dinosaur exhibit at the Wildlife safari currently too.
Unfortunately, they got rid of GA tickets a few years ago. Bleachers used to be much rowdier when you could get in for cheap. Sadly, like most events, they are pricing people out of the CWS. A shame.

6k so behind you. In 2018, had no issues getting lowers in UNC section but in 2024 and this year got shutout of any tickets. Good news is the demand has increased significantly and tickets aren’t really hard to get once you figure out flights, hotel and car.
Maybe we got fewer tickets this year? Good idea to wait until Friday to buy—tix have already started to drop. Do you know where the UNC section is?
Based off two years ago, I believe we were in top 10 rows of sections 117/118 as the home team. Then had a couple areas in upper deck too. I was able to find tickets right below the lower blocks last minute.
Good luck finding a cornfield around Omaha. Cross the river and head over to Iowa if you want to stare at cornfields. lol

Crazy as it sounds...Field of Dreams in Dyersville, IA. I did it with my then 16 year old son in 2016. Followed a friend who was a grad assistant at TCU that year. On TCU's day off we took off on a 4 hour Interstate ride literally all the way across Iowa to have a chance to experience the FoD. It's really doable in a day. We actually left in the morning, drove all the way across the state of Iowa, went to the Field of Dreams, spent the night in Le Claire, IA (think "American Pickers"), and then got up the next morning and drove back to Omaha and went the TCU's next game that night. You will NEVER regret it. The quiet reverence of that place is amazing!
