Oak better be recruiting right now. He has a lot of work to do in the portal.

Pitching rotation is most likely set with stone being pushed by a few underclassmen for the Sunday spot. Pitching was this year's weakness but it looks to be our strength next year. We could definitely use a few quality pen arms though.

The field is a different story though. How many spots are set? 2-4? How many backups will be a starter next year? 1-2? Right now Woodson would be a top of the order guy and that's not a good thing.

Hopefully he’s really good at retaining the talent eligible to return.

Jacob Parker & Ryder Woodson should be the only position players locked in as starters going into the fall ball.

We need to recruit in the portal above the bottom 1/3 maybe 1/2 of our pitching

Chone-2B
transfer Christman- GA Southern-LF/DH

Need 2-3 bats. Maybe the stud 1B from SC, who is in the portal now.

I don't know what was going on with Teel this season, but after seeing him just flat out drop 2 fly balls at TA&M, I'm not enthused to have him starting in CF next year.
He just needs some glasses

Not to mention the arms coming back. Kylie McDaniels(ESPN draft guy) had an article maybe 2 weeks ago(cant find it now), basically saying we had the most loaded talent coming back out of anyone. Of course most of that is centered around Bauer, Mac, Tito, Miller, Kirk etc.

We were so close this year, but this but we just couldn’t get over the threshold to knock down the door. We need some relief pitchers with hairy knuckles who look like they are permanently mad. We need some sticks to go with Parker, Woodson, Big Lew. We should find those guys. Baseball people all over this country know about The Dude and the crowds that show up. These guys shouldn’t be hard to find.

Lew may be gone. With the way he started hitting to end the year I can see someone drafting him late. We shall see.

Parker, Woodson and the transfer are the only pieces you can lock in right now. Anyone else has to make a jump if they want to start.

Edit: If Milewski hits like he did in the postseason he’ll have a spot, if he returns.

There are a lot of ABs up for grabs, should be attractive to some transfers.

That thought made me throw up a little in my mouth. Between leading the team in strike outs and errors and batting in the low .200s most of the season I hope somebody else makes him an offer he can't refuse

I pay $10/month for ESPN+. I watch a lot of State games on the app.
Softball, Baseball, MBB, & WBB. It is helpful to watch the out of conference games.
It helps since we have been playing fairly uncompetitive in most sports the last several years.

With the class he brought in upon arrival, he proved he can recruit. He put together a College World Series-caliber team in Year 1. Unfortunately, we were matched up against a team that could very well end up winning the whole thing.

The reality is that tournaments don't always end with the best teams advancing. We beat Ole Miss four times this year, but sometimes you get a tough draw, a bad bounce, or run into a team playing its best baseball at the right time. That's the nature of the postseason. Sometimes some of the best teams in the country don't make it.

This, I would find a shortstop and move Woodson to 3rd. It would be doing us and him a favor, he's not a shortstop at the next level in my opinion

Every player has a slump. He has plenty of time to flush his late season woes.

Kirk has basically missed two whole seasons with injury, anything positive we get from him now is a bonus

Bauer will be a weekend starter next season. He will work on his breaking pitches during the off season. Beavis will be on 1st won't he? He played there during the season.

I listened to him speak and he brought Teel with him. Teel was asked why he came to Miss State and he said where coach goes I was going.

We're going to have to replace 2 OFs, 3B, 2B, 1B, DH, and possibly a C (depending of if Lew is back).

That's a LOT.

As far as pitching, we need a solid L reliever and a shutdown closer.

Some of those may be guys that were on the bench this past season, and some may be guys we're brining in from HS.

If we're expecting Chone to replace Gehrig...that's a considerable drop off.

Pete Mershon had a ton of promise coming in, and I know he was just a freshman and didn't get many chances, but the few he had didn't produce much...hopefully he gets better.

Wortham was highly thought of, too, but I guess he redshirted bc I can't recall him playing at all.

Nunnallee had a lot of promise coming in, but he just didn't seem to be able to produce.

Noah, Reed, Ace, Gehrig, Vito/Blake are going to be huge losses from a power perspective.

They’ll find good players, but it’s still going to be hard to replicate this lineup next year. Hope they can figure out the bullpen. Starting pitching should be good next year

In 2025 at VA, Teel started 50 games in CF and had a PERFECT fielding percentage. Of course he also batted .317 with 20 doubles, 7 HR and 51 RBI. The hitting does not necessarily translate as well in the SEC but fielding is fielding. Gotta think that night in Austin was just a bad case of the yips because even after that disaster, Oak still used him as a late defensive replacement.

Not to make excuses but the wind was really bad that night also(announcers mentioned it a few times). Im confident in Teel out there overall.

I am less concerned about Oak finding a bunch of talented guys to put on the field. I am extremely concerned about seeing how they all gel to play together. We had a pretty unique scenario this year with half the team being returning studs and the amount of other players coming in that we’re familiar with coach

Teel Was just streaky this year. It took him a minute to adjust and then he was on a tear for quite a while and then hit a slump and I don’t think he reacted well mentally
He still has potential to be a monster, and I hope that he is starting in centerfield and batting lead off next year

He's been hurt all year - was playing through injury and illness.
