Ya. Walk down a street in North Philly and a street in State College at 2 or 3 in the morning. Tell me where you feel safer. I’ve done that in State College multiple times. I still do it on football weekends when I leave the bars.

In 2025, the City of Philadelphia accounted for over 42% of the homicides in the State of Pennsylvania by itself. That doesn’t include the surrounding areas. “Rural” Centre County accounted for 0.0018%. There was one homicide.

To your point, I have a friend who is a detective in Dauphin County (Harrisburg). He has told me many times, when there is a shooting or violent crime, you can ask the cops who patrol that part of town, before they even investigate, to write down 5 names and the perpetrator is very likely to be one of those 5 names. These are career criminals who do bad things all the time. Maybe in Philly they would have to write down 50 names since it is much worse there. These events are rarely the result of a misunderstanding that got out of control.

To go one step further, go in to any MS/HS and ask every teacher to give you a list of kids who they think will end up in jail, could shoot up the school, etc. I bet the list they each give have roughly the same names and they would be the same names the cops would give to the detectives.

Most mass shooting suspects were known to the police.

Cops were told about columbine suspects making bombs and threatening to kill people. Cops even had a search warrants. Cops chose not to search.

We watched Penn State beat Miami for the NC 40 years ago on South Street at the Copacabana. Fun times back then. Kyle was a student of mine in middle school, great kid and family. What happened to him and his fiancé was tragic.

I'll never forget this clip from 7 years ago.
