And a fourth player from that school is projected to sign with Nebraska - 3-star tight end Joey Hunter.
Do we have any specific connections to this high school? Seems like it could turn into a good pipeline for us. Landing 4 kids from the same school does make it seem like they’d be much more likely to stick.

also looks like we got a 4th commit from the weekend as well in Moe.

Didn't they get a lot of kids from Edna Karr and they kept leaving NU?

Recruiting kids from the New Orleans schools is never a good fit. Totally different culture. Yeah LSU and those schools down there turn them into stars but its a different world down there.
I think we’ve gotten a lot more good players from Louisiana who’ve contributed than from places like Miami and Georgia.

Yeah there isn't a blanket statement that can be made about these kids. I think it's one of the biggest things us fans get wrong. More times than not it's an "individual" thing. All these kids aren't the same just because they come from a certain part of the country. Just as all Nebraska kids aren't the same. I think you recruit "the kid" based on his own merits and personality etc and not the area so to speak.

Back in the days guys like Neil Smith, Reggie Cooper and LeRoy Etienne came out of Lousiana and were just fine in Lincoln. Tommie Frazier, Tyrone Wiliams and Shevin Wiggins out of Florida were just fine. Dana Brinson and Fonzo Dennard out of Georgia were fine.

You could go on and on. I say that to say you are right Nebraska isn't for everybody. But that's why you try and get to know these kids . There are some who likely won't fit in so you try and get to know what makes these kids tick and go after the ones you think will be able to adjust.

One thing Nebraska has going for it is the love they show these young men. Alot of times they don't get that at home. Hopefully we get more of these guys on the field who can develop and thrive in an atmosphere like they have in Lincoln.

Hope you are wrong about him projecting at safety. I don't know enough about him to say you are but if he's already 210ish I'd much rather see him as a LB and having him at 230 in 2 years.

I'm thinking he'll be olb type. We're pretty solid at cb and s. Need a true MLB soon

My issue is the 6’. 210lbs. Not much frame to add weight to. It’s why I posted “safety?”

Probably would have to see him in person to determine that. Maybe he's a nickel backer.

Kinda a tweener maybe but who knows. Not ideal length really for a backer but he might have great feet and quickness. Seems like LaVonte was on the small side in college. Run like deer. Hit like Buffalo would be good.
