Why won't Chicago pay for the billionaire's stadium and give them tax breaks? Really selfish of that danjerus librol city.
As a Packer fan I’m enjoying the meltdown by the irrational. That being said, Who gives a **** if they move the stadium 20 minutes away across a state line? NY Giants and NY Jets play in garbage state. SF 49ers do not play in SF. List goes on and on. Nothing burger.

This thing has been a giant cluster from the start. Today's news doesn't mean Hammond is a done deal, by the way. As a long suffering Bears fan this episode is reminiscent of how poorly the team was run on the field for decades. Now that they have some talent and a good staff I was hoping an adult would show up and run the stadium deal.
I'll repeat a few things I've posted over the years: Nobody actually knows who has a vote when it comes to the Bears, and that is even more true now that Virginia has passed away. Her four sons and a representative of the Ryan estate? Who else? Grandkids and great-grandkids? Part of the reason the Bears have struggled over the years is that Papa Bear left so many heirs who have diluted the finances. There are a lot of trust fund recipients lounging around the Lake Forest area collecting checks that could go back into the product. The family doesn't have much money, just this one massive asset.
Chicago, Arlington Heights, and Illinois have done the right thing and refused to gift the cash poor family a stadium that they can mint money off of. What the McCaskey's should do is sell about 20 percent of the team to help fund a project in AH, which is a magnificent property. It would be a mint year round for the family. But, they are cheap, and shortsighted, and want Indiana to build something they'll use a few times a year. The three entities I mentioned seem to have told the Bears to put up or shut up, and I think today's news was the Bears playing a card. It might be a bluff, or, they may wind up in Hammond. We'll see.
If the planned site is the Lost Marsh Golf Course, that's an awful, awful site. It's hemmed in by the BP refinery. It will be interesting to see how TV coverage tries to hide the surroundings. Indiana has not done appropriate reviews of the site, and there are legit concerns about legacy pollution, the stench that comes from the refinery, and unstable ground. It will never be a year round venue like AH would be.

It’s a stadium that will see ~20 big time uses per year. If Indiana wants to pay for all that, I welcome it. Illinois has made some really stupid choices on funding stadium referendums in the past. F*ck the owners at this point.
Downtown or the NW suburbs would definitely see lots of concerts, year round use, etc. Hammond? Not buying it, but don’t begrudge the Bears much if that is the best economic decision for the team.
But if they do come to AH I live 5 miles from the stadium site. I would definitely host a pregame for any HROT Bears fans interested in going to a game or three.

CSB, the wife grew up in up in Rolling Meadows and worked a few summers serving drinks at the track. It's a huge property. The best thing for the Bears would be to move to AH, or stay downtown. My fear is the decision is being driven by shortsighted views of the heirs. Think about a stadium that could be used year round surrounded by hotels and restaurants, a Chicago Bears museum... For games or special events you keep the parking revenue all to yourself...

The McCaskeys are stunningly incompetent. Papa Bear would be disgusted by this like most of what has gone on the last 35 years
If the bears want to move, let them move. The city shouldn't be funding million and billionaires. The number one thing for a football team is to win football games, not build a Disney World park. Won't it be great to see management wheel out the 85 Bears team on opening day of the new stadium.
As a Packer fan, I love to see Bears fans upset. But I'm proud of Illinois and Chicago not giving billionaires money for their stadium. Taxpayers are never made whole.
