Important, challenging and very competitive. But the BWICAC have painted themselves into a corner over the years with their definition of "big games." If it isn't Ohio State, Oregon or a playoff game with Notre Dame pedigree.....it IS NOT a big game.
Playoff win.....no Fiesta Bowl no Rose Bowl no Cotton Bowl no 13 wins....not a big win in the bunch. 10 wins...only beat teams without a pulse. It all comes home to roost now. USC, UM and Washington each lost 4 games last year.
By the definition of the experts here (not mine) PSU will not see a big game until the conference championship or the playoffs.

Currently, it appears the expectations at VT are to reach a bowl (7-5) I think 8-4 and 9-3 will leave their fans ecstatic for about 4 years. Then, fan behavior being what it is, they will morph into what you see here. :eek: Entitled and delusional. :cool:;)

Maybe the same thing will be said about Campbell too in a few months. Funny how so many fans are “Crowning” him before he has coached a single game at Penn State. I can hardly wait for his supporters on this board to start complaining about him after his first poor coaching decision.

Should “decent” coaches win a minimum of 10 games in the Big 12 where the talent level isn’t close to the Big Ten or SEC either? Asking for a friend.

Marshall I believe is Franklins brother from another mother - Big Game James can do no wrong and PSU Fans suck because we expect big things from our team besides losing to OSU every year. He should move the the VT board where he will have more Franklin worshipers to hang with.

1. All you had to do to see that was read the link I posted and

Did those kids at Vandy or the ones I mentioned at Penn State in another post stay out of trouble and graduate? You should never talk in absolutes when talking about that stuff.

Of course, Franklin threw the rapists off the team, what coach wouldn't. You want to talk about Franklin and his discipline of players for off the field stuff. What did he do to Adbul Carter after he assualted a tow truck driver, and there is no doubt that happened? He was charged there were witnesses. Maybe all coaches let that go, maybe only some do. Maybe Carter was disciplined in a form we don't know about.

Takes very little effort to be honest. Just shows up in my social media feeds since I follow a lot of college football accounts. Some people like to read this stuff. Figure it gives you something to do too since you have never not responded to one of these threads. Good for the board on slow days.

We all got our own quirks. If they help us keep on keeping on, who cares? The people on this board, by and large, are sane. That’s a luxury in these times, I have to think, one could argue that it’s an attraction. This board without its quirks would be sterile, who wants that?

Do I sometimes roll my eyes at what I read? Sure, but by now there’s nothing we haven’t seen. And I am 100% positive on this: the cohort of posters here who have rolled their own eyes at something I composed, that would fill Beaver Stadium.

You just contradicted yourself. So Franklin could get 10 wins in the Big, which is harder to do, but he won’t do that well in the easier ACC? 🤷‍♂️

Respectfully disagree. I thought the bowl win over Washington was a big win. I thought the 2024 win at USC in OT was huge. They were both big wins. I wouldn’t toss them in the category of ordinary expected wins.

He’s got some work to do but I think he’ll win 10 games down there. I think Va Tech is going to be a lot better with Franklin.

Definitely not a James Bot. I watched those games and thought they were good wins. He couldn’t beat OSU but that doesn’t negate the other wins. I thought Washington was favored in that bowl game but I might be mistaken. The USC game was a good win because most of the teams that had to travel across the country lost. It was a great comeback OT win. If I remember correctly, even Joe had a tough time with USC.

Eh? PSU favored in the game against Washington (by 3, won by 13) and were undefeated and ranked 4th and had to come back in OT to beat a USC team that was .500 and unranked. Big, good wins (all wins are good wins IMO) but wins that should have been expected and not that surprising. The OT was surprising but in the wrong way. Also illustrates another thing Franklin is good at and that is beating teams he should beat (on paper, according to lines, etc). Nothing is guaranteed of course. I hope we get them in a bowl though.
