"Congress does not need to micromanage college athletics," Saban said in a nearly packed room during the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee hearing. "Congress does need to fix the mess in the courts and create a national framework so the people inside college sports can enforce fair rules. Without that legal certainty, every rule becomes another lawsuit, every standard becomes another risk, and the system keeps drifting toward a professional model."

Saban was asked to speak to indicate his support for the bipartisan SCORE ACT. However for the second time Republican leadership pulled the bill from consideration to go to the House.
Then the B1G and the SEC released a joint statement withholding their support for the bill.

One Big Mess

So, the B1G and SEC like this chaos and the destruction of college sports?
And the legal lobby has a grip on the members of congress that matter to protect their money grab.

Sounds like a fun job, hey Coach Saban, any interest being the College Sports Czar and coming out of retirement?

Uh Huh, This is the savior of College Football ?

Oh, I apologize, this is before NIL. Just appalling that now almost anyone can dole out money to the players and be above board, unlike the good old days, when boosters could just fork money for a car and you could "develop" (or is it hoard the 4&5 stars)

to be blunt/direct, greedy/whiny coaches like Saban are a huge part of the reason why college sports have reached this point. The coaches salaries reached obscene levels and now the players want their cut as well, so who can blame them.

Nick Saban’s salary at Alabama reached $11.407 million in 2023, which included $11.107 million in base and talent fees plus $300,000 in other pay USA TODAY Sports Scores and Odds Hub. This was the highest annual figure he earned during his tenure, and it reflected the peak of his contract before he retired after the 2023 season.

I have enjoyed watching college sports for my entire life, especially college football. I'm only a casual fan of pro team sports, but college football has consumed a good portion of my time and attention for decades. Probably too much.

But as much as I love it, I'm not sure I care one way or the other if Congress makes an attempt to "save" it. Objectively and intellectually, I know that Congress has more important things to do. I also know they'll ignore most of those things. Honestly, what is so compelling about saving college sports? And who are we saving it from - the very people (players, coaches, administrators, and fans) who created it and participate in it? It's entertainment and I'll miss it, but there are lots of forms of entertainment out there. If it's gone, we'll move on to something else. Is it bad for universities if college sports as we know them go away? It seems to me the best universities in the world don't have high-level sports programs. They don't seem to miss it. Would it be so terrible if US universities got out of the entertainment business? Make me care. Tell me what I'm missing.

Saban had his time of buying players,……now he wants to dictate what he thinks it
should be! Maybe he should go back to coaching, or shut the hell up!!!
