Might be the sleeper on this team that few are talking about and some predicting only a back up role. Looks like a starter to me.
McBride/Wilcox/Diallo/Moreno/Mom Cam as a sixth man
Back ups at all positions but I hope Pope learns to stay with his six or seven man rotation in the big games.

He's going to prove to be very difficult to keep off the floor. I know in Pope's system "starters" really don't matter, but I expect McBride to get a lion's share of minutes at the 4. People are sleeping on him and penciling in N'Daiye or Kam over him.
I realize this is a highlight tape that HE posted, and it’s a pickup game, no defense, etc. But if he can shoot anywhere NEAR like that, this team is gonna be a lot of fun to watch.
To reach our ceiling, we are going to need to have some surprises. This seems the most logical since it is a position of need. If he can hit threes and rebound well enough for his position, he could be a diamond in the rough. Would absolutely love to see it.
I see us kicking it out in transition, A LOT. We could bury some teams.
With Diallo and Wilkins Assist rates, I would almost guarantee it.
I think we may have five guys who can get minutes between the 3-4 position and a couple of those guys can play five when our opponent is not particularly big in the paint. McBride and Kam will cause problems for teams wanting to focus on MilMom.
To me it feels like one of those kids that is starting to believe. Like maybe had always thought he was pretty good but now he believes in himself to make the next step.

McBrides size is perfect for his bully ball game, If you watch more his highlight tapes you will see that people are just bouncing off of him.

I was also impressed by this clip. Came to post that he looks a little chubby and possibly out of shape, but damn his shot looks clean. Very good arch and rotation. He's gonna be a star in the pick 'n pop.
Quite positive that we are only one of two teams in the entire country that have two guards with 30+% assist rates. IIRC, the other is UConn and one of those guards is likely out for the season or for an extended amount of time. Not sure on the second part, however, am positive on the first. Very telling stat.

I get the impression he was the primary guy on his team last year. If so, even if not the highest caliber of play, he likely got a lot of defensive attention. Those numbers look good for a guy who will now be playing around guys who will likewise get the attention of defenses.
He fits the bill on offense but man is he a bad defender. His analytics on defense is in the negative territory.

I think the questions about McBride revolve around defense. On offense, he's not just an outside shooter; he's comfortable in the paint with some moves.
He was one of 2 primary scorers. I also notice that JMU didn't have a lot of assists - they were 289th in the country in assist% at 48.3% (we thought we were bad, and were 80th at 56.9%). With 2 facilitator guards we should be much better at setting him up vs him having to go create his own opportunities.
I'm worried about defense and rebounding out of our forwards across the board. It looks like one of our biggest weaknesses.
