In 15 years, Cal won 32 NCAAT games. That is 2.1 wins per year. Pope has 3 in 2 years which is 1.5 per year. If Pope goes to an EE this season, he will be at 6 in 3 years, the same 2 per year as Cal.
Cals first three seasons…
2 SEC titles
2 SECT titles
1 E8
1 FF
1 Natty

Mark Popes first three seasons
S16 boatraced
R32 boatraced

He better have a good third or that’s gonna look kinda silly. At least when Cal was hungry and working his arse off he got great results. Supposedly nobody wants it more than Pope or works harder than he does, and these are the results. 😬

You tried to say Cal had 15 tournaments which helped your false narrative that his tournament wins per season was close to Pope's. I explained it to you, and you never changed your tune or acknowledged it. Instead you honest to God whined about Cal having too much talent or some **** lol.

I believe Pope can close the gap and increase his current 1.5 wins/season, but theres no reason to discredit Cal just to try and make Pope look better. There is still a long LONG way to go before Pope is even on Cal's level of success.
32 wins in 15 seasons equals 2.1 tourney wins per year fella

It's interesting that Miyakawa thinks we're around 13, that's what I thought. But in the end, preseason polls mean nothing. We will be able to play into the top ten from the get go.

It's all about executing and performing now. To the best of our ability.

We shall see...

Now it's about coaching and gelling as a team, and for hells sake, staying healthy.

Somewhere around 17-22 seems appropriate, with the potential to be much higher. Just too many unknowns. How good are Hawthorne and Ndiaye? Can Zoom and Wilkins score consistently against better competition than they've seen before? Will Moreno make a jump in production? What will McBride and Norton bring to the table?

We'll see.

Hell, Pope himself did that. What do expect of his minions?

I dont even know anymore man lol. This place has become absurd.

Some people sat here and roasted Cal for every little decision he made from day 1. So I figured, "ok this place his a high threshold for success". And here we are making all these excuses for Pope and anyone who questions him is now some negative anti-fan. "We need to give him resources!" after he has spent more than every past coach combined on a single player.. who i might add, wasnt pursued by the Duke's or the Michigan's because their rosters were set. All things equal, Mom would have never sniffed UK if this was two months ago.

Sorry, same rules apply. I didnt sit here and listen to armchair QBs dissect Cals roster moves just to have them turn around and excuse Pope getting blown out in this many games. Not gonna happen.

He might win a Title this year. He has one of 12-14 teams that can

You are delusional. You will be back here crying about Pope not being your coach yet again after this season. Then posting mean DMs you received. Then back on the wagon again, fella :)

I think the biggest issue is we have to compete in all games. The Gonzaga debacle from last year was unacceptable on every level. Effort was a major issue in games last season. There were too many games in year 1 and year 2 where we simply didn’t compete and got run off the court. More in year 2 than year 1, but being boatraced must stop. Nobody expects us to win every game, and sometimes blowouts happen. However, there have simply been too many blowout losses that it raises red flags. This is Pope’s biggest weakness on game day . He could pick up big wins but blowout losses have been consistent and numerous during his decade as a coach… at all stops.

This year effort and competitiveness should never be in question… ever!

To me, this has been the most damning of things for Pope!

Fans are doing it to themselves again. Seeing certain players and putting extreme expectations on them.
It is great getting Momcilovic but he needs help. Still not sold on the guards.

Same story. Every year. Pope needed the BYU guard. He missed of course.

Way way too low. Clearly a top 5 roster
