I realize he was here five years but had he played more he would be mentioned in the same conversation as Mangum, McNamee, Rowdy, and Allen. Straight Dawg.
Win this weekend and win/show out in Omaha would probably put him there.
Barring something unforeseen he will make his 200th start as a Bulldog on Saturday. That’s a lot.
He was never the headliner. He didn’t hit home runs and played on some forgettable teams, so he won’t get remembered as one of the all timers. But he’s all Bulldog.
I don’t know when we’ll have another Dude make 200 starts in this uniform.
He may not be remembered as an all-timer on the HR's or hits lists, but he'll be remembered for being up there with any of them due to his heart.
I'm not sure there's anybody else on this team I'd rather see at the plate when we absolutely have to have a quality at bat in a critical situation.
