Yeah..So will Tarboro and NorthIf the prep school in Tarboro continues to grow,I wonder if swe will lose more students to them.

Tarboro lost quite a few the year the school opened up back in 2012Yeah..So will Tarboro and North
Tarboro built a new school in 2012? I didn’t know that. Is the football stadium the same one or did they build another one?Tarboro lost quite a few the year the school opened up back in 2012
It's a prep school called North East Carolina prep school. Tarboro high still has the same stadiumTarboro built a new school in 2012? I didn’t know that. Is the football stadium the same one or did they build another one?
Oh ok.It's a prep school called North East Carolina prep school. Tarboro high still has the same stadium
Yea, it's like two miles (if that) from Tarboro High SchoolOh ok.
It will never change as long as we adults continue to glorify it under the guise of “parental choice”. And as long as we allow the legislature to continue to demonize and intentionally undermine traditional public schools. I really hoped the ‘80’s and the “me generation“ had run its course. But it’s far worse today. It’s become “I don’t care what happens to you as long as I get mine.”It is a shame what is happening with transfers all over high school sports. Gone are the days of sticking it out and playing in the area you grew up in with those you grew up with.
What is just as bad is all of the attention we give to 15-18 year old kids that move, sometimes multiple times. Transfers are treated the same as a high school senior committing to a four year university. Now, there are even "podcasts" where a kid is paraded out, sat on a couch and is given a forum for a Lebron type of decision announcement, not to mention the mentioned Facebook, X and Instagram attention.
Makes one wonder how in the world high school athletes in the past were noticed, recruited and then signed to a college or university team and didn't transfer.
Yes, I am old and long for a simpler time. Yes, I know those days are gone. Its a shame what high school and college sports has become.
And have the nerve to be reminding folks about the FCA and ECU camps coming upThe fact that it's June and no head coach has been announced is a head scratcher for sure. Running the risk of losing a lot of great talent to transfer the longer this drags out.
That's what I'm saying lol. I guess the parents will have to.And have the nerve to be reminding folks about the FCA and ECU camps coming up. Who's taking them?
Baseball coach hired in at RMAIf I am not mistaken, I heard that SWE is looking for a coach in all of the major sports.
That's right, but I believe Coach Hawkins has decided to leave as well.He was the assistant coach
For the football coach position? And if so what school is he coming fromI believe SWE has hired James Ward. Waiting for confirmation.
Wonder how the other swe faithful feel about the hireYep. James Ward is the new football coach. Former beddongfield, Wakefield and Knightdale coach
Four seasons at Wakefield, then one whole season at Knightdale.Wasn’t at Wakefield or knightdale long.
I can't see that personally, Unless swe had more kids Transfer. Worst case would be 5-5 imo.3-8, here we come!
Yeah and they have a brand new turf field and end the end facilities will rival anything in Edgecombe county and has a lot of big spenders in parents.Yea, it's like two miles (if that) from Tarboro High School
Well said but administration did not think of the kids and parents wants for a coach and decided on Ward, this coach has bounced around since Knighdale was hired as position coach at Wilson Hun and was fired from position because he was undermining the staff and others. Was then surpose to go to Wilson Prep but failed to hire on there also due to Hunt actions. But the SWE administration feels the is the best choice for this position sadly disregarding what players and parents wanted. I personally feel the transfers have just started to begin at that school and many more including the QB shall be transferring to other schools but they wanted a coach with proven record and experience. I see this as a joke and sad for the players for years to come this will take years to turn around.Four seasons at Wakefield, then one whole season at Knightdale.
Expect a lot more passing from SWE. He learned from longtime Beddingfield coach Tyrone Johnson. If I remember correctly, he was in love with throwing the ball.
Ward did get an opportunity to be the head coach at Beddingfield and earned a 17-8 record and a conference championship. He then went 12-28 at Wakefield before going 3-8 in his lone season at Knightdale. I still don't exactly hate the hire. At least he's not a rookie varsity head coach. At 32-44 overall, I don't think he was the best candidate, but we could have done worse.
One coach you failed to list is Mr Joe Williams and his Company Moore Paint and Wallpaper has been there since the Tillman days and worked as assistant coach and has one of the founding members of the Cougar Cub program and have given a lot of time and money to the organization and school including being one of the people responsible for the new press box as the other one was rotted turn and roof was a danger to be on, so please there have been many people that have donated and worked to make that program better but even his recommendations were over looked in the hiring on a new coach.I think WC's location to the beach alone makes it appealing, not to mention y'all are traditionally a solid program. And getting someone from the outside to move to Edgecombe county is difficult considering the pay. Tarboro not included because any coach would have to consider taking the helm of an established powerhouse. Even though Craddocks first three years weren't great he turned it around with the help of some damn good players. But the pay for teachers and coaches is subpar compared to South Carolina and Virginia, maybe even Tennessee, and Alot of the best coaches in NC pack up and leave. And I can't blame them, you work for money after all is said and done. The last staff, didn't bring back volunteer coaches, like Glenn Warren. A man that gave Alot of money to athletics at SWE. He would buy kids cleats and other things they may not have been able to get otherwise. Glenn has even bought the baseball team new uniforms out of his pocket. Now his two grandsons just won a state championship in baseball at Faith Christian. If Glenn is still on staff, those two boys would be at SW, and we very well could have won the state championship is baseball this year. But the school hasn't been passionate about trying to win big in football after the Cobb crew left. Hell, the weight room wasn't updated from the 80's under Tillman until Cobb came. Y'all hear 98 and myself every year say, "well, third round, time for us to exit". That's good enough for the school and always has been. Reidsville, Tarboro and a few others, that will get you asked to leave.
I played Cougar Cubs for four years when Ted Williams was an assistant and was at SWE when Joe was the ISS coordinator, so I spent quite a few days with Joe in the little room in the gym. But you're spot on with all the donations and support they have given to the entire school, not just athletics. And Cliff Webb that coached at South Edgecombe worked for their company has painted the field over the years. He runs the game clock now. I'll pop in there and talk with him for a few minutes at the game when I'm able to go. Hopefully Ward will reach out to the people that have done so much behind the scenes to help him be successful. He should be meeting with Sandra Langley and getting contact numbers and reaching out. That would be my first move after meeting my players and their parents. One coach you failed to list is Mr Joe Williams and his Company Moore Paint and Wallpaper has been there since the Tillman days and worked as assistant coach and has one of the founding members of the Cougar Cub program and have given a lot of time and money to the organization and school including being one of the people responsible for the new press box as the other one was rotted turn and roof was a danger to be on, so please there have been many people that have donated and worked to make that program better but even his recommendations were over looked in the hiring on a new coach.
You didn’t mention your donations to West Craven??This isn't the SEC or Texas high School football. I don't think donor recommendations should ever be on the table. I mean, if some millionaire funded the entire program, then sure. But there are many companies and private citizens that donate. I donate in the name of my business myself. They didn't listen to me when I told them Mike Tomlin was available.
I only donated tissue for your tears after that game winning field goal a few years ago. And how do y'all repay me? By donating butt whippings ever since. So sad.You didn’t mention your donations to West Craven??
Who did they recommend? One coach you failed to list is Mr Joe Williams and his Company Moore Paint and Wallpaper has been there since the Tillman days and worked as assistant coach and has one of the founding members of the Cougar Cub program and have given a lot of time and money to the organization and school including being one of the people responsible for the new press box as the other one was rotted turn and roof was a danger to be on, so please there have been many people that have donated and worked to make that program better but even his recommendations were over looked in the hiring on a new coach.
That was a tough loss. Just like our last loss last year to Reidsville.I only donated tissue for your tears after that game winning field goal a few years ago. And how do y'all repay me? By donating butt whippings ever since. So sad.
Let's be honest ... Most of those people are black people happy that we hired a black coach. And a lot of them know Ward personally, since he's from Wilson. Being black myself, I couldn't care less. All I know is when he was at small Beddingfield, he did well. When he coached the big boys, he didn't do so well. Maybe we are the perfect fit.I've seen quite a few swe fans on Facebook praising the hire of ward as head coach.
That's very true. If I'm not mistaken he's the first one in school history? I will say in regards to him struggling at Knightdale, those Raleigh schools have lots of transfers that go on. Look at wake Forest for example. Dominated the 2010s. Now they are nothing like they once where. Maybe he will fit in since swe is a more rural area school.Let's be honest ... Yes, he's the first black head football coach. We've always hired family, a current staff member, or a deep rooted Edgecombe local. BW Holt and Varnell were the only outsiders. We've had plenty of black head coaches in men's basketball though. Hmmm lol. That's very true. If I'm not mistaken he's the first one in school history?
