I just saw a preview for this movie. It is being touted as “The Untold Story of D-Day.” *

Looks good. We have some historians here, so I figure there could be some interest.

* Not the guy in Animal House.
Thanks for the 'heads up', Bob.

Andrew Scott is great as a heavy. He has intelligence in his eyes and an energy that jumps out of every scene. His Moriarity in Sherlock was outstanding. I dont know how I would think about him as a hero? He is one of those actors you love to hate, like the late Alan Rickman.

It'll be great for anyone who enjoys studying the war and trying to gain insight into the decisions made by the command staff.

OTOH, WWII has been dissected and studied more than any war in history. I doubt there is such a thing as an "untold story of WWII", at least on a macro level.

EDIT: And more specifically, an "untold story of D-Day".

I saw Pressure today. Very good movie. Straight ahead. No contrived dramatic horse-a$$ like Pearl Harbor. Focused on the matter at hand — weather, war, heroes. Does D-Day and its planning justice. Highly recommended.

I had to look up the rank of Group Captain when we got home, since we don't have it. It's the equivalent of a full bird.

Article from TIME, with some spoilers, on the background to making the movie. Stagg's grandson was hired as a researcher and neither party realized his relationship tp the movie until he started.

Does Pressure make any reference to Summersby being more than a friend to old Ike?

No. He confides in her, she speaks her mind to him, but they kept it professional.
Ah. Thought this was humorous.

Chicago Tribune reporter John Thompson when asked during the war whether Eisenhower and Summersby were having an affair, Thompson replied "I have never before seen a chauffeur get out of a car and kiss the General good morning".

Looks great, I plan on seeing this. I saw the preview last weekend and didn't like what I saw from Brendan Fraser as Ike, but otherwise looked very good.
