Nope. not betting the game until I see the O/U. Laying 30 in ANY Iowa game is foolish.
Yeah, sometimes the hawks look like anything but a well oiled machine in the first few games. And Kirk is well known for taking his foot off the gas, the air out of the ball, ect when up big

NIU is returning 18 starters , it is free money to take them and the points in week 1 against Iowa who will not show the full playbook unless they have to , , Kirk never piles on points , He will just want to get out of that game with a win plus Iowa will have a 1st time starting QB and will probably run the ball 50 times

I can’t remember the last time Iowa covered in a season opener. I will definitely be taking NIU to cover.

In the era of NIL any really good starters they had would have left for money.

Have to agree that’s way too much of a spread - can Iowa do it? Yes… will they? No because Kirk won’t pile on the points and he needs to get a a mean streak on him and put the peddle on the metal each and every time they can do it as it’s all about style points now a days

I'll take the Huskies
Going to agree with you on this. Many years under KF Hawks get better as year progresses. I think the whole qb thing is not completly settled and quite a few new faces. Hawks win but not by 29/30. Go Hawks!

50-50 game at best. experienced opponent against a bunch of greenhorns coached by KF at home in Kinnick early in the season.
i see iowa up by 2, with 1.30 on clock niu receives iowa punt back at their 30, two quick and easy first down passes against parker's prevent defense takes them to iowa 45 yard line, late hit on their qb by one of our frustrated linemen brings ball to iowa 30, two qb carries, 42 yard FG for the win. nuclear armageddon on this board continues for next 3 years at least.

you mock but we are both experienced enough to know the truth encapsulated in my sad post
That “experienced opponent” you think is coming in and taking us to the wire went 3-9 last year.

I’ll say it again, JFC.

All depends if the D can get some tos and a pick 6 and whether iow can score tds instead of fgs.

Would absolutely not take that. Iowa always plays its worst football in September. I think it'll be a 31-13 squeaker.

I should be and I know nothing about the opponent

They return a bunch of dudes nobody wanted from a team that went 3-9 (2-6 in the MAC) in 2025.

They’re a four touchdown dog on the road to a Big Ten team that won 9 games last year.
