He's the type of player who will reveal what Pope is really made of. Pope would have a team that fits his system, with multiple elite shooters in Kam, Momci, Morton, N'Diaye, McBride, and maybe even Wilkins (people forget he was just a freshman last year). Then you have two elite play makers and an NBA level center.

No room for excuses next year. Get it done, Pope, or get done.

given the pressure on Pope, I can see him just emptying out the bank to get MM, giving him a legitimate team that is a contender, knowing that if he doesn't have that kind of team, it might very well be his last year at UK. To add to that, he is also, along with many other coaches, hoping congress steps in and puts transfer limits and caps on this NIL /Revenue thing so UK can gain back some leverage its lost.

The pressure will also be on MM. You pay a guy that kind of money and he has 2-3 games of underperforming and people are going to be up in arms.

I wouldn’t call any of them elite shooters but Milan.

I believe UK had 8 mil for Stokes with 4 mil coming from Nike. I wonder if Nike was willing to pony up if it’s MM? My guess is that UK probably has at least 6 they can start with.

lol that’s not how that works. You have to actually have the money to “spend whatever” he wants.

If you are a donor, are you giving Pope a blank check?
I am a donor. And i know all of the major donors. And I know for a fact that pope does not a limit. There is one particular donor that would pay it all by themselves. But that's not necessary. Pope has never been limited on what he can spend.

Why aren’t we spending like Louisville?

I believe you, have no reason not to. Honestly don’t care. If we are spending? Why have we gotten duds? Our highest ranked portal commit is like 25.

and I’m a donor too if we want to get technical about it.

Question out of curiosity then, more than anything. If Pope has no cap on spending. Who's decision was it for the following: Pope's, Brown's, the Admin, JMI, the Donors, etc.

1) To let Chandler walk and not pay his asking price (which was reported to have made him the second highest UK player ever)
2) To have Moreno negotiate a smaller deal than he was worth in order to "have more to spend on a solid roster around him". I know we renegotiated it to get him out of the draft, but initially.
3) To let Stokes go to Kansas for "rumored" package worth $7 million and not just write Stokes a check so big he couldn't say no?
4) To let Freeman get a bigger offer from Slick Rick and their billionaire donor, who bragged about it on his twitter feed no less, while he was on our campus.
5) To let Rob Wright play us and negotiate a new deal with BYU while on our campus. Similar to Stokes, why couldn't we just outbid Mormon U?

We missed on other guys, stopped pursuing other guys for various reasons, and all that goes along with the ebbs and flows of recruiting. But those 5 were money decisions. Either we chose not to pay more, or offered more and they went elsewhere anyways. So either we were outbid, or a player and their camp chose another school for less money. It's been reported by multiple outlets that UK only has roughly $15 to spend in pure NIL (not counting Rev share) for this roster, including Norlander and Field of 68. Is there any truth to that?
