That's crazy to me. There are SOOOO many leagues around the world that he could play for.

Sounds like hes going to the youth route.. which if you have kids in youth sports today.. what an absolute f*cking racket that is. I wouldn't be shocked if he makes more money doing youth sports/training than actually playing somewhere.

Your kid plays in a tournament against teams one town over, yet the tournament itself is 5 hours away. Many of these leagues cost thousands to play in. You all have to stay in the same hotel. And its every weekend. Holiday weekend? They schedule something on that monday too. And its not just one sport. Its baseball, soccer, hockey, lacross, etc. There are people making bank on youth sports.

Guys now make so much NIL he can do something he wants to and chill. More power to him if he saves his cash and invests it wisely.

Exactly. His NIL deal for UCLA was reportedly $3 million, so how many would gladly take that at age 22/23, and semi-retired to do something for a career that you wanted to do?

Even if he doesn’t make a ton of money doing the youth stuff (which he may still make a decent living), if hel invests a good bit of that money, he could pay cash for his home and have no mortgage. Then, his youth training doesn’t have to provide a ton of money for him to still do quite well.

I remember youth traveling leagues being expensive when I was kid. Can’t imagine how they are now.

Yeah he could coach HS basketball and maybe run camps on the side and make enough to have a decent living. If he became a schools AD or moved up to college one day he will be well off. I applaud him for doing what he really wants to do and not playing just to stack more money.

Its truly insane and I havent even really gotten to it yet.. I just know from my little brothers now who are in some leagues.
Travel leagues are so crazy expensive. Only if they are sponsored does it really help eat some of the cost. I know in baseball you need to buy a new $500 bat before the season even ends these days. They are hot, but break easily now.
