Who are paired with?
The NCAA likes money. They make zero money off of football. There absolute biggest money maker is the NCAA basketball tournament. There second biggest one is postseason baseball. They are setting us up for an Old Piss super so we will be paired with wherever they go. Hattiesburg, Tuscaloosa, auburn or maybe Tallahassee. That is if they don't sent Old Piss to Starkville for a regional.

If its seed-based

USC (9)
Oregon State (19)
Wake Forest (20)
Cincy (22)

are the top four 2 seeds

If its geography-based (ACC teams and SBC/CUSA teams)

Wake Forest (20)
Jacksonville State (25)
Virginia (26)
Coastal Carolina (27)

are the top four 2 seeds. Oklahoma State and Miami are possibilities as well.

Possible 3 seeds are Missouri State, Liberty, Louisiana, Troy

Alabama State won the SWAC, Lipscomb won the A-Sun, and Little Rock won the OVC if they go regional on the 4 seed but I could see them flying anyone in.
I think Oregon St at Oregon will be pretty much a lock.

Virginia is unlikely unless one of us is a lot higher seeded that we expect.

I guess it's possible we could be #12 and they move up to the 21-24 range, but I doubt either of us does that.

This is a 30 year old myth. The NCAA doesn’t give a sh*t about college baseball. And the money they’ll make from any regional isn’t even a drop in the bucket.

Very unlikely. Ole Miss will probably in the 17-20 seed range, which means they'll be sent to a 13-16 regional, which is the same thing we're going to be. No way they fall to a 29-32 seed, which is what it would take to set up a potential Egg Bowl Super.

Some natural fits for 2 seeds

Ole Miss at USM
Oklahoma at Nebraska
Arkansas at Kansas
Oregon State at Oregon
Wake Forest at West Virginia

Sure has the look and feel of Southern Cal coming to Starkville.

It’s not a lock that we’ll be in the #13-16 national seed range. Y’all still buying into that D1/BA projection bullsh*t.
I wouldn't say it's a "lock" but I'll be surprised if we are 12 or higher.

Regardless, I doubt Virginia gets in the 21-24 range either, meaning they're headed to a top 8 host. There's just no way to get them to Starkville unless I'm way off on one or both seedings.

I think that’s a good bet. Can’t send USC anywhere regionally with both UCLA & Oregon also in big 10. So they’ll go somewhere cross country. A&M and Starkville look like prime targets.

Really surprised at no USC. Thought they would at least host.

2 Big 12 hosts is surprising as well.
Two from the Big 12 was inevitable if USC wasn’t hosting. Can’t give either of those teams’ spots to Oregon State or Arkansas. Both were far more deserving than those two.

I’d guess we’re no worse than 13th. Can’t justify putting Oregon, WVU, or Kansas ahead of us, and really can’t justify putting us ahead of any of the remaining teams.

I’m now guessing we’re paired with UNC, who will get the 4th overall seed, unless they arbitrarily drop UGA back to 4th, or arbitrarily drop us back to 14th just to create another SEC vs. SEC super regional. Texas A&M will be 12th, and they are absolutely guaranteed to be paired with 5-seed Texas. Those two are definitely getting paired up in some configuration.

I think they pair Florida-FSU in the 8-9 slots.

Also think Oregon gets the 16 and is paired with UCLA.

Alabama / Auburn will be 6 and 7 in some order. One paired with USM regional and the other paired with the Lincoln regional.

In terms of conferences I think they got it about right:
7 SEC
3 Big 10
3 ACC
2 Big 12
1 Sunbelt

My guess is we get Virginia, Louisiana or Troy, and a random 4 seed from the Northeast.

It is seed based this year. They are now seeding all the 2 seeds 17-32 as well and pairing with hosts that way as much as possible.

I think we're gonna be seeded 14-16 and get a tough 2 and a Super possibility we won't like much.

Fingers crossed I'm wrong.

I hope it's Virginia. Chance to poach some more of their good players after they see the environment they could be playing in. Hell I guess that is for any school coming in.

I bet we put in a nice sized bid though
We don’t have to. They have had regional host with 2000 seat stadiums that weren’t full for even the home team games. Bidding isn’t even a consideration any more. If Creighton ever makes a top 8 seed they could play every tourney game in Omaha and not draw 7000 per game.

I would guess Southern Cal, Wake Forest or Virginia would be decent bets. Maybe Missouri St or Jacksonville St.
D1’s podcast went with USC. Apparently seeds that are 13-16 will go against those teams that 17-20.

Who are paired with?

My guess would be either UCLA or Georgia Tech simply because the top-heaviness of the SEC this season…
