UNC Makes Too Many Mistakes as Georgia Tech Takes ACC Tournament Trophy
Grace Nugent's takeaways from Truist Field as the Diamond Heels dropped the ACC championship final, 13-6, to Georgia Tech.
I hope that you're right. The hottest teams during conference tourney week do not always correlate to the “real” post-season. Look at us last year after all the #1 in the country talk post-Clemson, Vandy last year as well sweeping Hoover….losing before we start the post-season (while still having a decent week overall) and resetting our focus may actually serve us better this year in the quest for Omaha. GT will need to refocus too for that matter and ignore A LOT of so called “rat poison” that will be coming from all directions leading up to Friday
Carolina won’t face a lineup like Georgia Tech or really close to that unless they play the Jackets again.I hope that you're right.
Despite the two wins in CLT, however, today's loss showed me that Carolina is highly vulnerable if neither of its first two starters can pitch at least through the fifth in his start.
Caden and Walker are nonpareil. But we do not have enough behind them. And, barring a huge turnaround in the starters' IP, we are going to need exactly what we don't have.
A agree that every team is vulnerable.Carolina won’t face a lineup like Georgia Tech or really close to that unless they play the Jackets again.
Every team, including them is vulnerable if one of their two best starters struggle. All of them.
I don't agree. To quote Coach Forbes, I thought he "pitched aggressive."When does the Folger Boaz experiment end? Guy has been absolutely killing us all year
ETA: 7.30 ERA (2nd worst on the team) and a 1.85 WHIP (worst on the team)
I hear you, but the season long data doesn’t lie.I don't agree. To quote Coach Forbes, I thought he "pitched aggressive."
He reached 96 today. But his FB has little movement. And his slider lacks the late snap to get the K or set up his FB. In short, a team as good as GT can sit on either pitch to make some hay. That is why the cutter has been such an effective pitch for Boaz: Folks can hit it, but usually into ground outs.
None of that mattered today, IMO. That double play ball that Folger glove slapped into a hit is what undid him. He seemed to realize that and lost his composure.
We need both Boaz and Rose to be good for us to have a real chance in Omaha. I was actually encouraged by what I saw from Folger. And not discouraged by how Jackson pitched. That was not a sandlot team that we just played.

If things go as planned Boaz might not pitch in Omaha. Just sayin'I don't agree. To quote Coach Forbes, I thought he "pitched aggressive."
