He just signed his extension 2 years ago and he still has 2 years left on it. At the time he was one of the highest paid DT's in the league. Rumors say he wanted a new deal after only 1 season. Teams don't do that. Then last year he is out of shape (Daboll ran a country club style camp) and lacked effort. Hard to blame Schoen on this one when he did extend him

From Ian O'Connor
John Harbaugh does not want Giants who don't want to be Giants. The coach tried to make it work with Dexter Lawrence & w/ Dawn Aponte spoke directly with agent Joel Segal. It wasn't to be. To get the 10th pick for an unhappy player coming off a down year--that's a helluva deal.

Some of his measurables are near the top and some are near the bottom. That must be why he fell. Hopefully he can develop and have an impact. He had 10 sacks and 13 TFL last year

BYU fans who know the NYGs said he will be "the Skattebo of the defense," He plays with his pants on fire. but not sloppy from what I gather. NYGs haven't always looked like they had leaders in the huddle on defense. I cant think of anyone with piss and vinegar after Antonio Pierce

Supposedly a bad tackler. At or near the bottom amongst LB's in this draft.

We'll see.

The excitement of Harbaugh taking over as head coach can sometimes make you forget a very important fact: Joe Schoen is still the GM. Setting aside our last pick, the whole first round could go bust.

I like the 1 pm starts, but I like the morning games too I guess. Frees up the rest of the day.
I hate the overseas games. I always forget they're on, thinking I have some time to do farm chores. When I come inside and see the score flashing on the bottom scroll I'm like, WTF

Lots of Giants news today.

1. Schoen will be getting a multi year extension, so it’ll be him and Harbaugh tied together for the long run it seems. Details for how long aren’t out yet as far as I can tell.

2. Reports that Nabers won’t be ready to go for week 1.

3. Interior D lineman Roy Robertson-Harris tore his achilles and is out for the year. Not sure how big of a loss that will be, but the interior is already without Dexter.

I have a feeling that Nabers wont get a second contract with the Giants. Guy just seems like a typical diva WR already.

The loss of RRH hurts as they were already thin at that position.

. . .
If this year's draft class bust too, Schoen will be taking a step toward the chopping block, not Harbaugh.

Harbaugh has a history. Schoen has a bad history.

I'm growing tired of these LSU wr's. Each one comes with their own problems. The only saving grace with Nabers is, he's in the facility everyday rehabbing. He hasn't been absent from those responsibilities. He had to have a second surgery to remove some scar tissue that set him back.

Look at the time they giving to Hyatt. Nabers was at least productive his first year. NYGs have have wasted a lot of money on mediocre WRs. Nabers is a good player when healthy. Seems NYGs have to lose key players every year

I just heard on the latest Giants Nation Podcast with Jordan Raanan and Bobby Skinner that he wasn't at the facility everyday and kinda doing his own thing rehabbing. I'll try and timestamp this video. It's at the 52:30 spot were they talk about it. Everyone recovers differently. The second clean up surgery has me concerned.

Schoen will be the sacrificial lamb if the Giants faulter regardless of his new contract.

Giants will sign OBJ if Malik is not ready. Not that OBJ at this point is a #1 WR but will be a bridge.

RRH pretty much stunk it up last season. Although this is a position of need he was probably in danger of being 3rd string on the depth chart before the injury. Could not address all gaps this offseason so I imagine they will focus on upgrades at DT next offseason.

OBJ is not worth the distraction that will come with him IMO. He would be WR #5 at best on this team. Since week 15 of 2023, he has 13 catches for 115 yards.

Agree with your take on RRH

OBJ didn't play in a game in 2025 (suspended for PEDs) and hasn't played a full season in 6 years (2019).
His last season in 2023 was a dud

"In December 13, Beckham and the Dolphins mutually agreed for Beckham to be waived. Prior to his release, he played in nine games, totaling nine catches for 55 yards." wiki

If true, then Jeremy Fowler is putting out some bad info or got lied to by the Giants staff.

I’m very surprised by the meltdown some people are having over Dart introducing 45/47. Very strange.
I'm not a Trump guy, but I couldn't care less if a player on a team I root for supports him. Same with my friends. Don't care. You can't go through the world with triggers that shut you down from hearing from, or engaging with, other people. This will likely be the last time I even think of it. Don't care.

You are of course entitled to your opinion. As are your friends.
I have a different opinion. A strong one. And I honestly don't know if I can root for a guy who seems to be a cheerleader for the evil that he is introducing in that picture.

Evil lol. Beat it then and don't derail this thread. The guy introduced the President of the United States. Got a Go Big Blue chant going too.

Barkley golfed with him before, I think Maholms did something similar once. Grow up

Mentioning some guys who were worse doesn't make the evil I speak of any less.
I've learned that this is not the forum to engage in a conversation about said evil. Not for me anyway.
The thread would just get locked. Or deleted.

I like you Kbe4, you're a fellow Giant fan and we see eye to eye on many things. But dude, seek help if this is going to affect you that much. Hell, the head coach is a staunch Republican.

As for Abdul Carter chiming in, he better start worrying more about his play than what someone's political leanings are. For the 3rd overall pick, his stats were an absolute joke and his practice antics didn't help any.

Thanks, but it matters to me if my team's quarterback is an a**hole. I don't really root for a head coach. Besides, I know what most of them are, so my expectations for the current one are low.
And btw I must have married well ( yeah, I already knew that) 'cause my wife stopped being a Jets fan when they gave the quarterback job to that a**hole Rodgers. She's back now that he moved elsewhere.

I think you have to look deeper into Carter's stats. He generated 66 pressures and ranked 10th by PFF as a pass rusher. His run defense was lacking, but then again the Giants entire defense sucked against the run. Part of the issue was that he was shifted all over the place by a ****** DC. Expecting much bigger things from him in year 2.

She has known that for quite a while. Neither of us root for a particular team based on ownership. If that were the case I'd be a Green Bay fan.
And I would have quit the Yankees when George Steinbrenner owned them. But if my current quarterback is cosying up to the evil I spoke of then I'm gonna have a problem rooting for him. That's just the way I am.

I got to say, you have got to be the first and only person or family I know or ever heard of who choose their teams to root for by the starting quarterback's political affiliation? Democrat, yay we're going to the Superbowl, Republican, I hope they burn in hell. I've heard colors, mascots, birthplace all types of weird sh*t, but never this.
