You know I love you. I am adamant that you are the best coach we have on campus. Days like today show what our program can be and we will see more of them in the future. Selmon needs to throw the bank at you in the offseason and you should block all calls from John Cohen.

but for the love of God, do not pitch to Wells the rest of the weekend.

I have next to zero faith in Selmon doing something aggressive and well thought out here. He will probably forego giving her a raise to double down on Lebby.

Throwing the bank at a softball coach is one choice we could make.

She makes $230,000. Could up her to $350,000 and she'd still be one of lowest in SEC.

Look at what Oklahoma is doing - three times the next highest

1. Gasso, Oklahoma $1.9 million
2. White, Texas $625k
3. Ford, A&M $575k
4. Murphy, Alabama $500k
5. Walton, Arkansas $460k
6. Deifel, Florida $450k
7. Torina, LSU $430k
8. Lawson, Kentucky $408k
9. Weekly, Tennessee $340k
10. Dean, Auburn $300k
11. Anderson, Missouri $262k
12. Tracheal, Ole Miss $255k

Well, there's $230K in 'Vegas, and then there's $230K in ____________ (fill in the blank). That being said, it would be sooooo MSU-like to let her walk and sink back into mediocrity where we were with her predecessor(s).

If Selmon has proven anything, it is that he will spend money. I expect him to extend Ricketts, but when Oklahoma calls .......

That’s justifiable, for sure.
I’m not sure that qualifies as throwing the bank at her- which is what we did for BOC.

As I posted in earlier thread. If you walk her you’re just bringing another .400 hitter with 20+ home runs up with another runner on base. Not good. You have to attack them & hope for the best. Even their best hitters will fail more often than not. And she failed in the clutch.

She'll get an least $100K raise which is nothing in college sports.

I’m certainly pulling for the girls and hope they win it all…. But I have no interest in investing big money on softball.
Fortunately your interest doesn’t mean much and hopefully we invest heavily in an extremely nascent futuristic sport. Softball is absolutely exploding at the youth level. We have a chance to have a Ron Polk type coach for the program in Coach Ricketts.

I know I would much rather watch beautiful girls play a sport instead of watching guys. As a man, I know I’m far from alone. We must be smart.

You’re right, I’m sure softball is the next big money maker****

I have a granddaughter who is going to be recruited fairly heavily among D1 universities in about 3-4 years. MSU is her #1 choice if that opportunity presents itself. And at the rate she's progressing, that is a good possibility. She's a catcher and CF, but can play the other OF positions well. She absolutely loves MSU and Coach Ricketts.

Nah....I tell young kids all the time to forgo science, math, and the like......major in PE and pick out a sport that pays well on the D1 level and go all out for it. You'll make way more money than engineers, businessmen, scientists, etc. as a D1 HC. Might take a little longer to pay your dues, but you can get there at a fairly young age.

Everybody thinks their kid or grandkid will be recruited heavily. Good luck with that.

We went 9-15 in the league. A few good wins isn’t enough to invest big money.

What has the Dawn Staley investment mean for SCarolina?

I know some will say what about muh baseball, well, we’re already have the program in baseball.
