I usually do a jar of dill pickles but throw in some hot peppers. Those slap on a burger.

Otherwise, typically all the above except mayo or bbq sauce.

As important, on the side dish front, I have come to discover that the only french fries worth a damn are those cooked in beef tallow, at Pure Eats,

Cheese obviously
Bacon if available
GOOD tomato (heirloom, local, etc) only
BBQ sauce as condiment. Ketchup and yellow mustard are gross.
Dill pickle chips if available
Sometimes onions, but only grilled or cooked down. No raw onions.
Sometimes lettuce, but only something good like a leaf or 2 of quality butter lettuce.

Depends. If I want a Swiss mushroom burger, some ketchup and mustard. If I want one with garden fresh tomatoes, a little mayo, slice of cheese and sautéed onions. Always served medium (I love it a little pink).

Tonight I had the Stub’s Special at Stub & Herb’s in Minneapolis. Bacon, grilled mushrooms and onions, blue cheese, and 1000 island dressing. It was a little busy, but enjoyable with tots, a side salad, and some Grain Belt.

@NorthernHawkeye how do you like your burgers? You’re a relatable, man of the people who clearly enjoys a night out with friends and family for a nice burger and a few beers.
Mayo and Dijon?

Regular burger= mustard, ketchup, dill pickles and onion
Bacon cheeseburger, add bacon and Swiss cheese.
Everything burger, all of the above plus Iceberg lettuce and tomato slice.

Typically keep it simple with ketchup, spicy mustard, cheese-sharp cheddar or American. Real American cheese, not that sh*t "cheese product" Kraft singles nonsense. I prefer a thicker patty well seasoned with SPGO.

Grilled onions and bacon if I'm feeling fancy.

At home, just the basics but definitely prefer BBQ sauce to ketchup.

But I really like a peanut butter / jelly with bacon and cheese when out if it's an option.

Mayo, mustard, cheese, tomato, onion (raw or sauteed - keep those fried onion straws the hell away from my food).

I will never put fruit sauce on my own burger - I mean ketchup, but I will eat it if it is served that way to me.

I do like a good BBQ bacon burger with sauce, cheddar, bacon and tomato.

Mushroom, Swiss, and mayo is another great combo.

Medium rare to just under medium. Any further and you're an a-hole.

Gotta have pickles on a burger with all the toppings…

Go with the over easy egg if I’m hungover next day for lunch burger or if it’s after a good night of drinking and get that hangry feel going on.

You eat burgers medium rare? E. coli is a real thing. You can only safely eat steaks that way because any E. coli on the exterior isn’t ground into the meat and killed while cooking.

I also eat beef/bison/venison tartare. And sushi. Some things are worth the risk.
Tartar you can clean/sear the outside before chopping. If the venison is hunted I don’t think I’d trust that the deer didn’t have some kind of parasite…. You did give me an idea though. I just did brats sous vide before grilling to get them as juicy as possible before searing. I think I might sous vide some of the burgers I’m going to grill tonight to pasteurize them so I can cook them medium rare…

I beer boil my brats beforehand if I have the time. Slice up an onion, toss in some garlic and mustard powder. Slow cook them so all you have to do is char the crap out of them on the grill.

The extra bonus, besides the super juicy and beer flavored brats, is that your house smells like a brewery for a day or two.

I always do this before big parties to make sure the brats are cooked through while I grill and socialize.

Sous vide cooks the brats in their own juices whereas I have found and read that simmering them in beer leeches the flavor out. But they are going to taste at least good no matter what.
