Anybody have a good guess as to what location and event this might take place? I heard that the time frame they were looking at was possibly early August, so what options are out there; or is it instead a situation where UK may create an event (e.g., the Bahamas)?

Not sure but this was handled about as poorly as possible. First of all, they wanted to go to Israel. That’s cool and all but what’s the benefit?
Now I assume they have a destination but once again, the UK admin is silent as can be. Most folks aren’t stupid rich like the decision makers at UK, people kinda need a heads up if they want to go to said event.
Lastly, I can’t imagine wasting money to see a Mark Pope coached UK team. I have a feeling I’m not alone in this. The attendance will be atrocious.

Yeah we went to London awhile back. Don’t believe that’s in the plans. That was an in season game as well. OP is talking about the summer trip I believe. Speaking of which, it was smart for them to allow this every year instead of every 4. Finally the NCAA made a decision that makes sense.
Regarding Israel, take the conflict out of it. Why? It’s not like it’s a basketball hotbed of talent, it’s not the Bahamas and beautiful(I assume, never been). It just doesn’t make any sense. You already know that was a Pope decision to do. Idiot.

I don’t like Israel or anything but israel is definitely a relative hot bed of basketball talent in the region. A lot of ex nba players and international prospects play for Israeli teams.
And Israeli nba players Danny Wolf and Ben Saraf both look mid but got drafted high last year
Israel does have some beautiful places too like the Red Sea and I bet Israel has more basketball ball gyms than Bahamas, etc

Now that I think about it, it would make sense for Israel to have a lot of talent. I’d rather play there than some other ME country for sure.

There was a time, during the prior iteration of this board, when there were a number of posters with enough legitimate knowledge or “inside information” to answer a question like this almost as soon as asked.

Why don't you guys go root for someone other team. It obviously makes you miserable to follow UK and its makes us miserable having to put up with you. Go someplace else WE DONT NEED YOU!. I will watch and root for the Cats wherever they play and am grateful to actually have more UK basketball to watch this year!
