Incredibly sad. Super talented race car driver and old school, didn't like him when he was in his prime cause he was kind of an immature jerk but gawd damn that kid could drive, anything. Liked him more as I got older and he's kinda the last of the old school drivers. R.I.P. young man
I'm not really a Nascar fan at all. But Kyle Busch was my default guy to root for against my friend who wanted someone else. 41 is way too young. RIP
"Severe illness." Yeah, pretty generic and I know it raises questions these days. Family said they will release the cause when it is more appropriate. I looked a little further and 2 weeks ago (May 10) he had a pretty bad sinus illness or infection and asked for a medical shot (after the race).

Not a Kyle Busch fan. But he became humbled. Absolutely feel terrible for his your son: who is racing now. And Kyle was the coordinator in all of that. Heart breakingWhat! A NASCAR post. The horror.

Was a Dale Earnhardt fan in the day, then switched to Harvick when DE died. Then came Kyle Busch, and I couldn't help liking him. He drove Toyotas for The Coach, and I had a Toyota at the time. Great driver. I'm old and in the way nowadays; don't know who to watch now. How the hell do you just up and die at 41?

My god, the fact that this post got a "like" from Numbers...that is amazing. Guy posts the most amazing mean nasty things about people dying yet "liked" this one.
And I am guessing that the person who posted it DOES NOT go to funerals and say that. I think he was just making a joke.
Looks it might have something to do with the elevation and the heavy physical toll of multiple races in a weekend, on top of having pneumonia. I assume drivers have some gnarly drugs to cover up the effects of being so sick. A really good lesson for people to rest and recover when they have a bad cold, sinus infection, and then secondary pneumonia. Get your antibiotics, and get to the hospital if you have low oxygen. I tend to work through fever, chills, shortness of breath and then I end up super sick.
That's what I was thinking severe infection in the lungs. Flying in the plane could have caused things to get worse. Then driving two races with that heat inside the car and getting jerked around like that. He must not have realized how sick he was or he just thought he could power through anything.
Kyle was from Las Vegas so we have a six degrees of separation from him, as well as being my daughter's favorite driver so that he would stop and give her a little attention from her growing up watching him. Kyle was known to push cars, teammates, crew members (maybe the bounds and rules) as far as he could push them. No one ever questioned his competitiveness and desire to win. Sometimes that can lead to pushing ourselves too hard and too far. Perhaps ignoring symptoms. Perhaps deciding to keep training when one should be convalescing because its an anniversary or birthday or one of the biggest races of the year. Pneumonia is no joke, and sepsis moves fast. He was a man who loved winning and came to love only his family more than winning. In time I think a more scrutinizing eye will come to examine how perhaps symptoms were missed or minimized. I try not to go off of Husker topics on this board; however this story profoundly impacted us. Hug your families regardless of whether you are 21, 41, 61 or 81.
