A few things need to happen before this guy actually produces for us…

Must stave off other teams
He must show up on campus
He must be developed once he gets here
Coaching staff remains for 2-3 years
He remains for at least 2-3 years.

I miss the days when I felt that was likely.
I miss the days when a commitment actually meant that. Today its about like making a rental car reservation without a credit card on file.

Incredible looking prospect. Kid has a nfl body already. I also love his disposition. Dude is a finisher. Hope he makes it. Looks like he's capable of playing right away.

I love this get!

The '27 class gives me hope (like Geep and the DC). I really dig it. I am mildly shocked that Rhule has done decent in recruiting except the absolute dud of '26. It's like he and the staff fell asleep for a year. I genuinely don't know why? (I don't follow recruiting close enough). The '26 class can't be because players don't believe in Nebraska anymore, because look at the blue chips of '27 giving us a chance. Something happened... anyone know?

Rhule messing around with the PSU job didn't help. Also, the Raiola family seemed a little bit toxic.

I thought it was because we had so much young talent on the team already that we didn’t need to recruit for ‘26. We only needed to fill in a couple key positions through the portal and we were set. And we had plenty of money to do it. Is that not what happened?

Some of the guys on the roster were highly ranked 4 star guys too. Sooo were they over rated or was Donnie just as bad as some of his vocal critics have insisted? Maybe we get some answers about a few of those guys this fall.

Which Is why I think Geep wasn't/isn't nearly as high on the "young talent" that Donnie and MR was. He immediately went to the portal to upgrade for right now PLUS has already got commits from guys he's already talking about may play early. Does that sound like a roster loaded with "young talent"? I think Geep knows exactly what he wants and it wasn't currently on the roster. He's changed the present AND the future in less than a year. I'm SURE he's not impressed by much of what was here.

I guess my thought on him going hard after high schoolers is that he knows he’s not going to be able to buy the talent he needs in the coming years from the portal. I don’t think we broke the bank on portal linemen this year. I still believe he’s going to develop some of the guys already on the roster. I think we have to get used to the idea that we’re going to take 1-2 portal linemen most years regardless of what has previously been recruited but it’s going to be tough to compete with other programs with deeper pockets for top portal OTs in particular.

There are a few factors with OL that makes it different from other position groups. One, the starting group tends to get all the snaps and you don’t see much of the backups. Two, most true freshman aren’t physically ready to play. Unless the guy was highly rated out of HS, he probably isn’t getting tampered with until he has some game tape in year 2 or 3. By that time, hopefully the player is appreciating the coaching and development and is more likely to stick. If Geep is decent, some focus on OL HS recruiting could prove to be a good investment.

Jeep for next OC?
You never know and I have no clue how well rounded he is. Just because you're a good line coach doesn't necessarily mean you'll be a successful oc. However imo it can't hurt. The line coach has to understand the whole offense and what affects what.
