100% agree. He should have been shown the door as soon as the last out was recorded on the season.

As close as Ray and ML are, I would bet my house they've had discussions since Holbrook years for this position. Just a hunch.....If I had to guess, I'd say Tanner is the reason Lee's being considered. Do I think Ray is making the final decision on a coach? No. But who do you think Lee called right after he got fired at Clemson about getting new work? Ray of course. I think he still has enough clout to tell Donati to at least consider him. It's obvious Lee is campaigning to be at worst retained on the staff. Lee is becoming like Shawn Elliott-one of those guys that always finds a job on our staff if things don't work out somewhere else.
I could see a courtesy interview since he has a history going pretty far back with the program. It's obvious he doesn't want to move out of state with his wife still employed at Clemson. He's not getting a staff position there so Carolina is the best paying available option-head coach or assistant. He's campaigning hard to be retained in some type of role. Will be interesting to see what Donati does. Here's my rough analogy. You apply for a job, get interviewed, but the hiring manager already has a (internal) candidate picked out that they want to hire. They have to interview you as a courtesy, and to fill whatever government mandates there might be. In this case, Donati is probably searching for the external candidate to pick out. Personally, at this point I hope it's Fitzgerald.
Assuming Donati does not want to hire Lee, he nonetheless has to interview him as a courtesy and to "look good" to a few people. And he's still the interim coach for the moment, conducting "exit interviews" with the players. And he still has to meet with Donati.
I can appreciate the frustration, but just let it ride for administrative procedures to run their course.
Even if Donati has no intention of offering Lee the job, outside of personal misconduct (and losing the last 13 games, much as it hurts, does not qualify), a courtesy interview with Lee is still the right thing to do.I could see a courtesy interview since he has a history going pretty far back with the program. as long as that courtesy interview is nothing more than saying thanks for being interim but you are not a candidate for this position.Even if Donati has no intention of offering Lee the job, outside of personal misconduct (and losing the last 13 games, much as it hurts, does not qualify), a courtesy interview with Lee is still the right thing to do.
I can see Donati subtly pick Lee's brain for ideas........as long as that courtesy interview is nothing more than saying thanks for being interim but you are not a candidate for this position.
