Recently began watching this 4 episode limited series. It’s about a 13 year old boy arrested and charged with the murder of a female classmate.

A unique feature of this series is that each 50 to 60 minute episode is shot with a single camera in one continuous take. No cuts, no edits. They even used several handoffs with the camera obviously shooting as a handheld device, then seamlessly mounted to a drone and straight into an aerial shot. The story has been compelling so far (I’ve watched 3 of 4) and the acting is incredible. Amazing to watch a scene with two actors talking for 30 minutes straight to memorized scripts. The kid that plays the suspect in particular. It’s his first acting role and he’s great. He won an Emmy for his role.

If you choose to watch it you should know the actors are all British with some pretty heavy accents, so CC is a must.

I 100% agree on the accents ... closed caption is essential, or you're wasting your time.

each episode focuses on a different part of one huge traumatic event

1. the initial aftermath and booking of a crime
2. investigation at school and how the social setting played a part of the childs behavior
3. deep dark interview with the alleged offender. This episode was slow but amazing. A kid with no acting experience pulled off one of the best interviews I've seen
4. Long-term aftermath on the family

the whole show is slow, but it's super heavy and well done

I think you have to have the mindset that you are ready to appreciate a very heavy slow burn or else it's not going to be enjoyable

If you like the one camera approach, watch Alfred Hitchcock’s Rope.
One of the all time great one shots (with a little trickery thrown in).

My favorite “one’r” is probably from the “Who Goes There” season 1 episode of True Detective where McConaughey goes with the white supremacists to rob the drug house in the projects. Insanely intense.

Yes! I was trying to remember where I saw a one shot scene in recent years. That was an awesome take.

If you haven’t seen the Apple show “The Studio” with Seth Rogen they do a hilarious episode about trying to get a one shot done before losing the light. I think the whole episode is done in one shot as well if I remember correctly.

It’s Netflix I mean what can you expect. There is some great foreign shows but anything British is going to be filled with nonsense. They have entered a different level of dystopia.
I don’t follow British news very much, what’s the dystopia they’ve entered?

The show is top notch. One of the most gripping and well done things to come out in recent years. Its definitely super heavy though.

I didn’t need CC to follow it. I hate reading tv shows.

I watched the final episode last night. Thought the show was really good. And, again, amazed at how they pulled off filming an entire 60 minute episode with a single shot. And too bad that some folks apparently couldn’t appreciate this incredible feat pulled off by talented people because they can only view entertainment through the lens of their own political bias.

I thought the kid turned in one of the best acting performances I've ever seen. Talent on a crazy level for his age.

Yeah it's 2026 and in these days people have decided to let their politics define their personality. Tribalism is our ruin.
