NAACP calls for boycott of southern schools

Some will say, do anything to stay relevant....I don't see their request amounting to much.
Not likely. Does the NAACP even do anything except call for boycotts every now and again? I'm really not sure what their function is, but I'm sure they rake in a lot of money.
Seems at least once a decade they target university athletics.
ESPN was practically jubilant when reporting it, which is odd considering southern college sports is their bread and butter.
I'm sure kids who have worked all their lives since first picking up a ball for a D1 scholarship offer and now NIL $$$'s followed by a Pro draft pick are going to support the boycott.

Their boycott of SC over the flag resulted in record tourism for the state.
Depends on what the local chapters focus on. The boycotts are just what the media tend to talk about. I was a President of a local chapter in my younger days. We gave scholarships to graduating seniors. Provided school supplies to kids going back to school, and yes white parents brought their kids out to get the supplies. Arranged community meetings with law enforcement. Positive things tend to be boring. Things that sow division get ratings for news outlets.
Got to keep the race baiting alive to generate the money.
It's sad but I believe ESPN has long ago ceased being focused on sports (as a company). They have, in my eyes, focused on "politically correct" thinking for years.
Sure hasn't been boycotted any during the "bike week" that happens in Horry county ever Memorial Day weekend.
Just a touch ironic that the NAACP is a racist organization.
Be my guest. May bring back the true student athlete. You know those kids that were proud to be offered a free education, room, board, etc to play a sport.

Hakeem Jeffries is a joke. He calls Supreme Court "illegitimate" when they rule that you cannot consider race in drawing up the congressional maps in each state which is the definition of racist. He and Chuck Schumer look into the camera and straight out lie all of the time. Lord help us if the Dems get the majority in the House and/or Senate in the fall. He and the Dems accuse Trump of dividing people while that is exactly what they do. Trump considers everyone equal as long as you aren`t in the country illegally, while the Dems want preferential treatment for people in the U.S. illegally - they flooded the country with illegals - no vetting or anything. Who lost jobs, benefits, health care and had taxes increased to support all of that? The average American that`s who. Democrats are prioritizing illegal immigrants over blacks & whites and the NAACP and the Democrats don`t say a damn thing against that. Also, I`ll bet you everything I own that the average number of scholarships given out to minorities is considerably higher in the SEC schools than the number on teams from the North and the West, where the blue states are. They are so full of crap. Oh and what a great idea to mix politics and sports. Guess they are getting desperate because they have no policies other than being anti-Trump but this is ridiculous.

I never said that I agreed with the move. However, I get the logic. You have all these athletes in your schools that are not really qualified academically, but it's the regular black students that get attacked with all this DEI non-sense. Now, I think they are off on just blaming this on southern states. If you are going to do a boycott like this, do it with all the P4 schools. Further, there was a comment earlier in the therad by "Prestonyte" that I agree with. There is too much money involved now in college sports for this to work. You can't expect kids to pass on 6 and 7 figure deals over a principle. I believe in principle, but everyone has a price. It's a boycott that will be in the news cycle this week and forgotten.

You don't have to be asked. You don't have solutions on anything. You still think having a donor like Mark Cuban will turn our football program around. Yet, that influx of cash you think Cuban is giving Indiana gets them the next 3* recruit.
