Good morning folks,

Austin, prayers for you and for your wife. It sounds like good news for your wife so I hope that is the start of a time of recovery and peace for both of you.

Cool in the east. I got in to work in DC 90 minutes ago, and the day has already been one of petty crises and headaches. Ah well. Hope you all have a good one.

Prayers for your wife @AustinTXCat.

Went fishing yesterday:

3 strikes, 3 hits, 1 error. Warrior-Cat 2 - Largemouth Bass 1.

While wading, I stepped into an unseen crevice that was deeper than my hip waders and went down and got wet. No Biggy.

Reds... :cautious: Lodolo is not the same pitcher as last year. I believe he is cautious about getting another blister on that index finger on his throwing hand and is not putting everything into his pitches. Reds pitching at the beginning of the season was what kept them at or near the top of the National League Central but has sense stumbled. The offense has generally sucked from the beginning with only De le Cruz, Stewart, and Lowe providing some scoring.

Well... enough of my whining, you folks be careful out there and trust in Gods guidance and his will not ours be done.

Good morning everyone

Spring, my favorite and busiest time of the year. I've made time however to sit and watch our birds. We've got several nests near the house....wrens, flycatchers, bluebirds and doves that we have seen. There are others, but the actual nests haven't been spotted. The bluebirds are very active in the yard.

Tuesday I hiked 13 miles on Pine Mountain. I don't know what the elevation gain was but enough to make me sore today. I saw plenty of wildlife including a sow and cub walking the same trail towards me. They got out of my way.

RR still difficult to scroll through now. There won't be much news for a couple of weeks until the MM brothers announce their draft intentions.

Prayers for everyone here. Have a good one.

Good morning folks. Cool and overcast in the east.

Warrior, my 1964-era white crowned, red billed Cincinnati Reds cap is off to you for hanging with the team this long.

As for Lodolo -- I expect the announcement today that he has a hangnail or a mosquito bite and is out until September -- nothing as life-altering as another blister, which of course would put him out until 2028, but still a medical calamity.

How did guys like Warren Spahn survive combat in World War 2, then come back in his late 20s and still pitch 240 innings when he was 41? Because he was a real man, not a pampered, entitled crybaby.

Ah well, I better drag my azz back to my work -- don't want to be accused of being a Lodolo at this late date.

Burns pitched a no hitter through 6 today and has an ERA of .47 in 19 innings pitched in May. One run in 19 innings. We need a couple more like him to stay competitive but also need scoring. Bleday is coming on as is De Le Cruz while Sal Stewart is cooling off but still better than the others. Not enough of both I am afraid.

I was a Spahn fan back in the day. He got a Purple Heart and earned a battlefield commission from staff sargeant to 2nd lt.

In a Bill James book, he talks about Hank Bauer who was in the elite Marine Raiders. A politician was trying to make points by criticizing how baseball players were pampered in the military. He used Hank Bauer as an example. When advised of his status in an elite group and having got 2 Bronze Stars and 2 Purple Hearts, the politician said he meant to say Hank Sauer. Though not as impressive as Bauer, Sauer was involved in several major battles and had an impressive record.

Hello All,

The Lord hasn't taken me home yet. Just been that stupidly busy. From the time I wake up until the time I could fall into bed I have had to hit it hard. I need to go back to work... (These last at least two weeks have been killers.)

In any event' I am thankful... Still have tons to do and tons of stuff that seems to find me.

Tomorrow should be slower... Enjoy your rest tonight and I do still keep you all in prayer.

Good morning folks. Happy Friday. Working from home today. Woke up early, facing a scheduled run that I really wasn't feeling at all, with these aging legs. But I knocked it out and feel that sense of relief that brings.

Staying cool in the east, but very sunny. I hear warm -- even hot -- weather ahead so I'm content to be a little chilly for now.

I hope you all have a good day and a nice weekend ahead.

Morning D-Legionnaires!

Temp in low 70's this morning with a hint of rain in the air. High to be in the low 90's with moderate winds gusting.

Cutting grass yesterday morning and about midway through, my deck belt snapped. So, I went to Lowe's in Lawton and got a replacement. I have only had this riding mower (John Deer S140 48" deck) for about 2 years and already the belt snapped. Had a Husqvarna for 10 years and it never snapped. Lucky or just better product? Replacing the belt required lowering and dropping the deck. Time consuming but not difficult until one of the sheaves would not comply and loosen up. Had to bend a belt guard to get the new one on. Spent about 1 1/2 hours or more replacing it. Finished cutting by around 5pm.

Reds...😰 if you watched the game yesterday, it was the perfect example of why they are where they are today. Reds at Indians (don't care) bottom of the 8th Reds lead 6-1. A couple of hits interspersed with 5 walks made the score 6-5 at the end of the 8th. Reds went on to hold on 7-6 but still, it pissed me off.

Well, enough of that, you folks enjoy the day off and get some rest. Prayers for those hurting or going through hard times and may God Bless you all. Remember however, his will not ours.

Good morning folks, Austin, my best wishes and prayers for your wife. I'm sorry you missed the Turkey trip. I hope that is in your future wkth your wife along.

Warrior, if even the Reds' wins are going to piss you off, I'm afraid with this bullpen you are in for a long long .....LONG summer my friend.

As this is the Battle of Ohio weekend, here's my Cleveland joke:

When people from Cleveland want to insult Reds or Bengals fans they call Cincinnati "North Kentucky."

When people from Cincinnati want to insult Guardian or Browns fans, what do they call Cleveland?

Cleveland.

You all have a great day.

Back home from DGD's Purdue graduation ceremonies yesterday. Not that any graduation is much entertaining, but this was, in my limited experiences, first order well done. Patriotic, no left-wing interference or speech, orderly, graduates & school centered. Lasted 2+ hours. Individual name call-outs for I'd say 1200-1500 graduates. Quite the proud GD here. BTW, PU had NINE separate ceremonies to accommodate all their graduates. Huge school.

NKy starting a girls flag football league to compliment its boys league that's been going since 1958. I didn't know this, but KY sanctioned flag football as a HS sport back in March - 23rd state to do so. Can't wait till the issue of "who is a girl" comes up.

Hello All,

Been at it again this morning. Showed one of my properties..(Maybe)...

Heading to my garage. All work completed BUT, I am sorting through and hand-cleaning everything to remove DUST. My Darling is extremely sensitive to the stuff. (Even when she has no idea about it, it hits her. (Not putting on...))

The BB got his squishy toy today here and wants to come get it badly but he is happily very busy today with his Mom, a soccer game, and then a party with his best buddies. So he asked Papa to bring it. (I cannot.)

Anyway, have an on point day to where you gain good in all you do...

Got to get "jiggy wiff it"... ;)

Edit: I did take the BBs “dumpling” to him. Me and Ama dropped it off in his garage before him and his Mom came home after we went out to eat. He had a fine time. I am thankful. He’s a good boy.

Good morning folks. Warming up in the east. Supposed to hit 90 today. Got my run in early and relaxing now before taking my wife to church.

My son's Department of Interior firefighting job in the Durango, Colorado area is finally official, with an actual start-up date in June. Thank goodness. I'm looking forward to visiting once he is settled in for a couple months. I pipelined in Utah, directly west on Grand Junction back in the 1970s. The pipeline warehouse was actually outside a little ghost town called Cisco. I remember being told in 1977 by a local guy who just hung around the warehouse that Cisco had a population of 6. Apparently the past 50 years or so hasn't been kind to them, because I Googled it, and in the 2020 census the population was 4. I guess it is the old story on the younger generation being drawn away to a place where the light of the town are brighter. (Yes, I used singular on purpose.)

Always wanted to get back there, and mom is going to want to visit her boy as soon as possible anyway, so maybe we'll go on a trip that way in the fall.

You all have a good Sunday

Well I left my home down on the rural route
I told my paw I'm going stepping out...

I'm going to tuck my worries under my arm
And scat right back to my pappys farm
And leave these honky tonk blues...

Gooooood morning Legionnaires!

74° this morning with a lot of wind (I ate chili last night...no wait scratch that). High to be in the mid 80's with gusting winds.

Going to play 2 co-ed softball games today at 2pm and 6pm. Trying to stay unbeaten. Currently 6-0.

Yeah @MdWIldcat55, the bullpen sucks. Reds were leading after 6 innings 4-2 and then in the 7th, Mey was screwing up so Francona brought in Moll. He got 2 quick outs before Francona took him out, brought in Johnson who gave up a hit, walked a batter and a wild pitch made the score 4-4. Should have left Moll in for the third out. Guardians scored 3 more later to win 7-4.

I have said this before and will say it again...come on college football.

You folks have a blessed day, relax, and God Bless.

If I have this right, 9 of 12 SEC softball teams in the NCAA tourney advance to the super regionals/final 16. Pretty amazing. UK may have had a decent team despite awful record, but they were up against easily the best. BTW, V doesn't have a softball team. Why????

Morning Legionnaires!

74° this morning with moderate winds gusting to near 30mph.

Won both co-ed softball games yesterday. 16-1, and 16-3. We have a really good hitting team. We now stand at 8-0

Monday, Monday.

@AustinTXCat Tell you wife I am praying for both of you.

Get at it folks and attack the week with the knowledge of the upcoming holiday giving you a three-day weekend.

God Bless.

Hello All,

Been at it hard already. Still more to do. I am thankful.

I'd list all I have to do but... Too long. ;)

One thing though, with the warmer weather the BB is getting excited about hitting the swimming pool. I promised if if all works out (If the Lord doesn't take me home. (Never said it like that to him but I learned not to assume I will have tomorrow.)) we'd hit the pool a lot. Monday is the day but the weatherman calls for rain that day. Me and the BB bought new swim suits just for the occasion... (Not matching.)

He's a good boy...

Enjoy this day because, you should!

Reds start out with Lodolo giving up a hit and 2 walks to the Phillies right off the bat (pun intended). 2 sac flies later, Phillies lead 2-0 after the first inning. Pathetic. Lodolo has an ERA of 8. Not the same pitcher as last year after the blistered finger side lined him preseason until just a couple of weeks ago.

Week four of our race season is completed.........we flew a 300 mile race Sunday.......I had three birds place in the premiums......I got 1st, 18th and 19th places......I have won every 300 mile race I have ever flown with this club.......my bird came in 5 hrs. 40 minutes.....the next bird was 2:03 minutes behind...........I will probably skip the next race (185) an focus on the 400 mile race in two weeks.........we fly our version of the KY Derby......we take the best average speed from 300, 400, & 500 mile race.........winning the first race puts me in the driver's seat.....I just need birds to get home in good time on the next two races.......hope remains eternal....no money involved just bragging rights and a nice plaque with results of the three races.....

Good morning folks. Sunny and humid in the east. I tools my wife after my morning walk that it felt like summer for the first time this year.

Congrats on your plucky birds, Pidgie. It’s good to have something to feel passionate about as we get older.

Rumbling into my subway station in DC. You all have a great day.

Hello All,

Think I have my house leased (two years). Had tons of interest but looked for the least likely to cause damages but could still pay. We had several choices this time. I am thankful and will be more thankful when all is completed.

My Darling and I went to the comissary on Quantico Marine Base this morning. Started there for just a drive wanting some eggs. (Extra large and large brown eggs to be exact.) Left with 55 dollars worth of food. The BB got some of the gum he wanted but doesn't know it yet. I will pick him up at 4 and he has soccer practice again today but it is his KFC day so, there is that.

After tomorrow should start a downward trend to all the activities I have been involved with since I retired. We shall see but it looks that way and I see nothing causing me to stay so darned involved after tomorrow.

I need to do some metal detecting. My Darling and I will at some point if the Lord doesn't take me home hit the road in June to go vist my Dad's grave in Shawanee, TN at the Shoffner Cemetary. Then head to Florida to see our other grand children and my Son and DIL. (WAY overdue!) Will just stop where and when we want with no time frame... WoW!!!

(Still cleaning/ organizing the garage BUT, it is trending in a good direction to where My Darling isn't complaining now. ) ;) I am thankful...

May this day give you what you need in your heart to keep going. God Bless you all in the D-League...
