Well, if Nick Heintzman says it, it has to be so. Whoever in the hell Nick Heintzman is.

Fran Fraschilla isn't over-bright but even he knows that anyone who can afford an internet connection can claim to be a "draft analyst" and post generic, half-informed nonsense. That doesn't make them worth paying attention to. Fraschilla is just trolling Kentucky fans.

I’d prefer we either be really bad and it’s obvious we’re moving on from Pope or be amazing next year and obvious we need to stick with him then be middle of the road and stuck in this weird purgatory. So if our starting PG is indeed terrible then so be it.

No pope team is gonna be amazing so we will either suck or be mediocre.

I'm going to wait and see for myself before I buy any Zoom or Franck hype from UK media. I saw they went 16-17 overall last year.....

Washington’s crappy record is a bit concerning considering we’ll now be featuring two of their starters (Zoom and Kempnang). And they also had a lottery caliber stud (Steinbach), so they can’t really claim lack of supporting talent as an excuse.
Exactly my point on recruiting them. We have two of the best players and they sucked and they had a highly ranked wing we went after last portal season along with one of the best big men in the portal last year.

Washington wasn't super terrible last season. They finished just outside of the top 50 in both kenpom and barttorvik.

Their backcourt was like ours without Otega Oweh. Imagine a team with a starting lineup of Aberdeen, Jasper Johnson, and Colin Chandler. Off the bench are two more guards Johnson level. That was Washington.
Well then we are in for a world of hurt again this year.

I don’t know how you can look at what Zoom did last year on an injury ravaged Washington squad and not be impressed. They had like 7 scholarship players by the end of the year, and Washington players missed like 120 games.

Zoom was their second best player, and performed well given his heavy usage and the fact teams could hone in on him and Steinbach on the defensive end. He shot 53% from 2pt range, often taking tough shots because his team needed him to. Washington shot like 31% from three so defenses would just sag and he still was one of the more efficient offensive players in the league.

Back in my day we sent our cast offs to Washington, not the other way around.

We may yet add a difference maker or two, but as it stands we have the least amount of talent I can remember since Pitino’s first season.
Shouldn’t be shocked this is happening since Pope came here from Washington as a player.

Diallo was about on par with Aberdeen this past season. I don't think it's unfair to expect some improvement from there.
That’s just not true. Maybe the stat line percentages are similar, but the reality is that Aberdeen is a much MUCH better player than Zoom Diallo. Admittedly, I have a pretty high opinion of Aberdeen.

I also have seen more than a few Diallo full Big Ten games; he’s just not a very intuitive player. He’s more physically impressive looking than a winning player. And yes; Steinbach was very, very good at Washington.

You're missing the worse tweet. I don't know if he's just stupid or what but hashtagging the player in an insult about him is idiotic for an analyst

He's similar to Jay Williams. I dont know how these guys can even have a job as analysts/announcers when they so blatantly shill for their team and crap on their rivals. It would be like Tony Romo just shitting all over the Eagles when they play Dallas or Brian Windhorst openly campaigning for his Cleveland cavs over the Pistons. You wouldnt hear it from them and you never will, because of something called integrity. When you get to a certain level in sports journalism, your audience isnt supposed to know you even have a favorite team. Another reason why College basketball is becoming just a poverty sport. Not a single aspect of it is trustworthy at this point.

This would be best case. We all hope its the success route, but either of these make a decision much easier for a new ad.

If its somewhere in the middle, going to be really interesting to see what the new ad does. Imo much of that will be based on if that ad hire is internal or not.

And now that Washington is Kentucky.

You guys (especially the Final Four, better every position than last year people) need to remember--

Nobody wanted Diallo. Pope didn't even want Diallo but was forced to go back to him and beg after getting played in spectacular fashion by Rob Wright. And Diallo had no leverage to protect his manhood and stick it to Pope because... again... nobody wanted him.

The new AD will be our most important hire this decade. Pretty much the future of UK sports depends upon getting a good AD to navigate this new era and keep UK competitive
