I don't have a problem with it given his military service. They say that postpones your eligibility window so he will have only 1 year left anyway.

I don’t know what you’re talking about here. The NCAA has no official age limit (at least to my knowledge) and this will be his first year ever playing CBB, so he will officially be a 26-year-old freshman. So WHY would he have “only 1 year left”?

And I have no clue what relevance military service has to any of this.

in short, your post makes zero sense to me. Can you explain it so that it does?

Not OP but here, I googled that for you. And if you'd been paying attention, you'd have noticed Euro pro guys coming over to play that have entered college as sophomores, juniors, or seniors eligibility-wise because they're in their 20s and have been playing organized ball.

Thanks for the link. It is somewhat informative. But I still don’t see anything there mandating that he’ll only have one season of eligibility. I did see is a clause stating that enrolling after the grace period can result in the loss of a year of eligibility, but it doesn’t say the loss of three.

I’d be curious to know the correct answer, because it affects UK too. N’Diaye will be like a 22 or 23-year-old freshman for us next year. So how many years of eligibility will he have here?

Sometimes you just have to have the ability to extrapolate from the information you have. Clearly they don't mean "you can enroll when you're 45 and you'll have only lost 1 year of eligibility."

Ndiaye turned 19 in 2023, so 2023-24 season was grace period, 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons count against him, he'll be a sophomore with 3 years eligibility. That's IF they are consistent with the rules. They appear to have followed these rules for Mihailo Petrovic at Illinois, for instance. He started this year as a sophomore - he turned 19 in 2022, 2022-23 season is a grace period, 2023-2024 starts his 5 year clock and both that season and 2024-25 are counted against him, he starts playing in 2025-26 as a sophomore with 3 years eligibility. I'm not sure why Sananda Fru, also turning 19 in 2022, entered college as a junior this year. They seem to be kind of winging it when it comes to these Euro guys.

they said they’re changing the rules for next year. Military and religious exemptions are the only thing that allow you to play past like 24/25 years old

This morning, they also reportedly signed RJ Luis even though he spent last year in the G League on a two way contract after leaving his name in the 2025 draft. Seems like a clear cut case that he should be ineligible if there’s any consistency left since it’s as close to an identical scenario to Bediako as you’ll find, but I’m assuming LSU has a plan for fighting it if they’re even bothering to contact him. This Wild West era of eligibility is getting tiresome pretty quickly.
