Please feel free to counter instead of just saying this is ignorant AF. You don realize older generations used to live in a trailer or crappy apartment when they were beginning their adult lives. Now I feel like half of them feel entitled to owning a house right out of college.
I’ll agree that inflation sucks and people aren’t paid enough but I’m not going to feel sorry for kids that borrowed money and now can’t pay it back. It’s called a loan, not free money.

And the reason it is ignorant as fuq is because TACO unilaterally changed the terms of a contract (which under any other circumstance is not legal). I've paid more back in student loans than I borrowed. And I've paid for 23 some odd years. One of my "options" is to extend this nonsense out until I am 70 or somehow figure out how to play by TACO's rules for repayment. Which were not what I was under while I was repaying in the most recent past. I changed my finances accordingly (fiscal responsibility) and then once set, trump's dumb *** comes along and changes the calculation lowering the poverty level multiplier (amount of income that would be considered exempt) and increasing the percentage of "discretionary income" the repayment will be calculated off of. Bang, my repayment gets to go up many hundreds of dollars a month for no apparent reason. Not because I wasn't paying, not because of anything other than trump changed it.

My point exactly— there are a lot of wrongs out there for any single issue to be the only decisive issue. DEI is bad, but so is graft, abuse of office for personal benefit, unilateral random policy changes, the economy, foreign relations, etc. Refusing to evaluate the sum total of all actions is a failure of higher level reasoning ability.

maybe bringing the conversation back to a reasonable point...did anyone notice the story where some universities are cutting costs for some of their graduate programs. The story I read was about an MBA program (can't remember the university name) that was reducing the cost of their MBA program from$139,000 to under $100,000. The reason, apparently the BBB limits student loans for graduate programs (not lawyers/doctors) to $100,000. Now, at least partially, it might seem that if they can reduce cost that significantly just because of loan availability one might be able to make the case that they set the higher price for the same reason.
The government should not be in the student loan business. It was supposed to bring in $100billion in revenue from interest payments. Instead it has cost us $billion in loan forgiveness.
